As an accredited Toray Industries TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 factory, we enforce strict quality protocols—every batch undergoes rigorous testing to ensure consistent efficacy and safety standards.
| Packing | Toray TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is supplied in 25 kg moisture-proof bags, palletized for industrial handling and storage. |
| Container Loading (20′ FCL) | 20′ FCL container loaded with Toray Industries TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50, palletized, shrink-wrapped, and securely braced for sea transport. |
| Shipping | Toray TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is a non-hazardous thermoplastic ASA resin supplied as pellets. It is typically shipped in moisture-barrier lined bags or boxes on pallets, kept dry and away from direct sunlight, heat, and contamination. No special DG shipping classification is generally required; follow SDS and local regulations. |
| Storage | Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat, and ignition sources. Keep material in original sealed packaging or closed containers to prevent moisture pickup and contamination. Avoid contact with incompatible chemicals. Do not expose to prolonged humid conditions or open weather. Use FIFO stock rotation; if moisture exposure is suspected, dry per supplier recommendations before processing. |
| Shelf Life | Typically two years when stored in original unopened packaging in a cool, dry, ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight. |
On high-volume injection-moulding lines producing unpainted exterior mirror housings and cowl vent grilles, TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is pre-dried in a desiccant dryer at 80 °C for 4 h with a dew point of −35 °C until residual moisture is ≤0.03 %. The material is plasticised at 235–255 °C and injected into multi-cavity tools kept at 45–70 °C; sequential valve-gated hot runners are specified for mirror shells with visible weld lines because hot-runner pressure imbalance above ±8 % across cavities shifts weld-line position into the Class A surface. Colour concentrate is metered at 2–4 wt%, and regrind from sprues and rejected parts is limited to ≤20 wt% of total shot weight; higher regrind levels depress Charpy impact below the approval envelope of ISO 179-1:2020 at −30 °C. In-mould pressure transducers record peak cavity pressure between 45 MPa and 70 MPa, and gate freeze is confirmed by sequential pressure decay before pack-and-hold release. Compliance for such unpainted exterior parts is anchored to SAE J2527:2017 xenon-arc weathering with 2,000–2,500 kJ/m² radiant exposure, ISO 4892-2:2013 laboratory weathering, and OEM-specific volatile/odour limits such as VDA 278 where the cowl vent communicates with the HVAC plenum. Terminal parts produced under this processing window include exterior mirror housing shells, cowl vent grilles, roof rail covers, and B-pillar lower trim, all converted without post-mould painting; the limiting operational boundary is that aromatic hydrocarbon or ketone-based cleaning solvents must not be applied after installation because environmental stress cracking risk increases once moulded-in surface stresses from valve-gated areas are frozen into the part.
Outdoor single-phase AC charging stations and telecom cabinet covers require flat panel surfaces from 0.5 m² to 0.9 m² with minimal sink marks at rib intersections. TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is dried to ≤0.03 % moisture and processed on two-platen injection presses of 10,000–16,000 kN clamp force; the melt is held at 235–255 °C, and tool temperature is maintained at 50–80 °C to reduce internal stress while preserving dimensional tolerance after thermal cycling. Colour masterbatch is added at 2–4 wt%, but hygroscopic pigments must be pre-dried because residual moisture above 0.1 % in the masterbatch generates silver streaks in large-area flow fronts. Regrind is restricted to ≤15 wt% when frost/impact retention after repeated outdoor temperature cycles is required. For static-dissipative housing variants, an antistatic masterbatch is incorporated at 0.5–1.5 wt%; the addition can reduce Charpy impact, so validation per ISO 179-1:2020 at −20 °C is compulsory. The unmodified TA44 X50 grade is limited to UL 94 HB; it is not suitable for live electrical parts requiring UL 94 V-0 or V-1, and enclosures under IEC 61439-1:2020 may require additional internal metal barriers or a flame-retardant compound, which would need separate outdoor ageing validation under UL 746C f1. Moulded cover assemblies must pass water ingress testing under IEC 60529:1989+A1/A2:2013 at IP54 or IP65 depending on the installation; seal-plane flatness is verified by three-point gap measurement with a maximum deviation of 0.3 mm across a 500 mm gasket land. Terminal products include outdoor telecom cabinet doors, AC charging station front panels, inverter covers, and cable management cowls. Published data for this specific configuration is limited; thermal cycling qualification therefore requires a plant-specific master plaque and part-level validation on the actual seal geometry.

Coextrusion of an ASA capstock layer over impact-modified PVC window trim and roof ventilator cowls is conducted with TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 as the outer layer at 0.15–0.25 mm capstock thickness, pigment concentrate at 2–4 wt%, and processing aid at 0.3–0.6 wt%; the capstock is extruded on a conical twin-screw extruder with melt temperature of 220–240 °C, sizing plate at 60–80 °C, and calibration vacuum of −0.02 MPa to −0.04 MPa, while adhesion to the substrate and weathering performance are verified per ISO 2409 cross-cut adhesion and ISO 4892-2:2013 xenon-arc exposure after 2,000 h, and fire classification is determined on the finished assembly under EN 13501-1; terminal products include window lineals, roof ventilator cowls, louvered shutters, and door threshold cladding. The raw resin cannot self-declare a fire class because the assembly structure, substrate, and joint design control the building-product rating.
Gasoline-powered garden equipment uses textured black injection-moulded engine shrouds where impact retention after UV exposure is the primary mechanical acceptance criterion. In production, TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is pre-dried at 80 °C for 4 h and fed to a hydraulic injection press with a nozzle shut-off valve to prevent drool; melt temperature is set at 230–250 °C and mould temperature at 50–70 °C. Black masterbatch is added at 2–3 wt%, and regrind is limited to ≤15 wt% because higher regrind levels increase surface silvering at the hot-runner gate and reduce impact strength below the approval envelope established by ISO 179-1:2020 at −20 °C. Mould surfaces are textured to 20–30 µm depth to obscure flow lines; vent channels are machined to 0.02–0.03 mm depth at the flow front in deep rib sections. Ageing validation is performed under ISO 4892-2:2013 for 2,000 h and surface defects are classified under ISO 4628, with the acceptance criterion that no cracking appears on visible surfaces. Direct exposure to gasoline or aromatic hydrocarbons is excluded from service conditions because ASA has limited aromatic hydrocarbon resistance; fuel tank spigots and fuel line penetrations must be isolated by an EPDM gasket or a polyamide barrier layer. Terminal parts include lawn mower engine shrouds, snowthrower discharge chute covers, portable generator top cowls, and ride-on mower side panels. Grade-specific data for black textured TA44 X50 after xenon ageing is limited; each masterbatch formulation must therefore be qualified on actual production tools with the intended mould texture depth.
When thermoformed TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 sheet replaces marine-grade ABS in caravan roof vents and small-boat deck hatch covers, the resin is first dry-blended with 2–5 wt% colour masterbatch and 0.3–0.6 wt% processing aid, then extruded into sheet at 1.5–4 mm thickness on a single-screw extruder with 30:1 L/D, melt temperature 220–240 °C, and three-roll stack temperature 70–90 °C. The sheet is cut and thermoformed on a plug-assisted aluminium tool heated to 60–90 °C; sheet surface temperature before forming is controlled at 150–180 °C, and maximum draw ratio is limited to 1:1.5 to avoid corner thinning below 2 mm. Vacuum is applied at −80 kPa followed by cooling fixture retention for 60 s to reduce warpage before trimming with a five-axis router. Compliance is verified by ISO 527-2:2012 tensile testing after 1,000 h of ISO 4892-2:2013 xenon-arc exposure, ISO 9227:2022 neutral salt spray for 1,000 h, and ISO 2409 cross-cut adhesion where a coextruded PMMA or acrylic clear cap is used. Terminal products include caravan roof vent frames, deck hatch covers, instrument console bezels, and radar arch covers; the material is not recommended for engine-compartment parts where continuous temperature exceeds 85 °C. For this specific sheet and thermoforming configuration, published data is limited, so wall-thickness distribution should be mapped with ultrasonic thickness gauging on first article inspection.
For gas-assisted injection moulding of outdoor furniture armrests and kayak hatch lids, TOYOLAC™ ASA TA44 X50 is pre-dried at 80 °C for 4 h and melted at 230–250 °C; the mould temperature is held at 45–75 °C. Colour masterbatch is added at 2–4 wt%, and reprocessed material from gas-channel blanks is limited to ≤25 wt% only in non-load-bearing sections because flexural modulus under ISO 178:2019 declines measurably beyond this addition. Gas-assisted filling uses nitrogen at 25–35 MPa injection pressure into 12–18 mm rib channels, which reduces sink marks on the visible surface and shortens cooling time; the gas overflow cavity is positioned in a post-mould trimmed area. Weathering compliance for pigmented surfaces is assessed under ISO 4892-2:2013 with 2,000 h exposure and ISO 105-A02 grey-scale rating of 4 or higher; structural applications require low-temperature Charpy per ISO 179-1:2020 at −20 °C. Terminal products include outdoor furniture armrests, kayak hatch lids, ski rack housings, and non-structural playground panel corners; load-bearing furniture frames and seat shells are excluded unless a glass-fibre-filled grade is qualified. The gas-assisted process is sensitive to melt viscosity variation at low shear; therefore incoming resin melt flow rate is checked under ISO 1133-1:2022 before lot acceptance.
