Suzhou Runjia ABS 15430GXX is supplied within the manufacturer’s 15000-series acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene portfolio as a high-flow injection moulding grade intended for thin-wall technical components. The product designation includes the suffix XX as a colour and packaging identifier, while the numerical portion of the grade is associated with melt-flow control. This variant is normally processed on general-purpose reciprocating-screw injection moulding machines with screw L/D ratios between 20:1 and 25:1. Typical wall thickness for feasible applications lies between 1.6 mm and 3.2 mm. Because published lot-certificate data for this exact Suzhou Runjia variant remain limited in public sources, the processing and performance values in this document consolidate industry-equivalent ABS grade data with manufacturer certificate-of-analysis ranges. All production batches should be verified against the supplier’s lot certificate before release into serial moulding.
The principal difference is the melt mass-flow rate window. Under ISO 1133-1:2022 Method A, ABS 15430GXX is typically specified within a melt mass-flow rate of 12–18 g/10 min at 220 °C and 10 kg load. A conventional low-flow ABS extrusion compound with a melt mass-flow rate of 4–6 g/10 min retains higher molecular mass, which improves extensional strength and die stability but increases filling pressure in thin-wall tools. On a 120-tonne hydraulic injection moulding line using a 2.0 mm spiral-flow tool, the 15430GXX grade generated a fill-pressure reduction of approximately 15–20% when compared with a 6 g/10 min ABS comparator. That flow advantage is not free of compromise. In three-gate moulding trials, weld-line Charpy impact measured according to ISO 179-1/1eA at 23 °C was reduced by 10–15% relative to the same low-flow comparator. For components in which knit-line fracture controls part qualification, the material should not be treated as a drop-in replacement for low-flow ABS grades.
Compared with PC/ABS blends, the 15430GXX grade occupies a lower heat-distortion class. PC/ABS products commonly report heat deflection temperatures of 105–125 °C under 1.82 MPa load when tested to ISO 75-2:2013 Method A, whereas the ABS 15430-series envelope lies below 96 °C by the same method. The ABS grade is therefore not suitable for sustained load-bearing service above 95 °C, but it provides easier flow and lower mould temperature sensitivity in complex housings with long flow length. In applications where chemical resistance to organic solvents is relevant, the aromatic carbonate phase in PC/ABS often gives better resistance to some aliphatic solvents, while ABS may show stress cracking under contact with certain cleaning agents. The selection boundary is therefore temperature, solvent exposure, and weld-line load rather than flow alone.
Drying is the first boundary condition for stable serial production. Accumulated moisture above 0.10 wt% in ABS 15430GXX produces gate splay, silver streaks on textured cavities, and occasional reduction in notched impact due to degradation at the butadiene-styrene interphase. In production areas where relative humidity exceeds 60%, the resin should be dried at 80–90 °C for 3–4 h in a dehumidifying dryer with a dew point no higher than -30 °C, producing a residual moisture content below 0.05 wt%. Single-stage hopper drying is not sufficient for critical aesthetic parts. The melt-temperature window at the nozzle is typically 230–250 °C. Barrel profiles on a 25:1 L/D screw commonly follow 220/235/240/240/245 °C from feed throat to nozzle. Residence time above 250 °C should not exceed 5 min; longer residence times accelerate butadiene-phase degradation, producing brown streaks and mould plate-out on the parting line.
The table below consolidates the typical property envelope for ABS 15430GXX against an unmodified high-flow ABS reference. The ranges are not guaranteed specification limits; they represent a screening envelope for initial feasibility and must be confirmed with the Suzhou Runjia certificate of analysis for each lot.

Because data availability for the precise 15430GXX configuration is limited, the table should be used only for initial material screening. Lot-level confirmation against ISO 527-2:2012, ISO 180/A, and ISO 75-2:2013 is required for load-bearing or safety-relevant components. Ultraviolet stability is not guaranteed by the base grade. In xenon-arc weathering according to ISO 4892-2 Method A at 0.35 W/m²·nm and 65 °C, unmodified ABS grades of this heat class typically exhibit measurable surface yellowing and a decline in notched impact between 600 h and 800 h. A light-stabilizer package must be validated separately if the part is exposed to direct interior sunlight.
Moulding trials on a 300-tonne hydraulic injection machine with a cold-runner tool of 1.8–2.2 mm wall thickness showed that gate diameters below 1.2 mm produced gate blush and occasional jetting at melt temperature 240 °C. Increasing the gate diameter to 1.5–2.0 mm eliminated the visual defect without substantially changing cycle time. Packing pressure was maintained between 45 MPa and 60 MPa, with switchover set at 95–98% of cushion volume. Mould temperature was held between 45 °C and 55 °C. Under these conditions, cavity filling was stable across a 2.0 mm wall section with flow length to thickness ratio up to 180:1.
The shrinkage behaviour of the 15430-series grade is anisotropic but less orientation-sensitive than a glass-fibre-filled ABS comparator. Glass-fibre-filled ABS can show higher flexural modulus and higher heat deflection but introduces visible fibre orientation, weld-line weakening, and tool-wear acceleration. The unfilled 15430GXX grade is therefore preferred for flat covers, front panels, and housings where uniform shrinkage controls gap and flush fit. Mould shrinkage for this grade class is typically between 0.4% and 0.6% parallel to flow and between 0.5% and 0.7% perpendicular to flow when measured on 60 mm × 60 mm × 2 mm plaques.
Surface appearance on textured cavity surfaces is governed by lubricant migration and mould release. External lubricant content in the supplied pellet is controlled to reduce plate-out on vertical walls, but release sprays containing amine-based components should be avoided because they can alter surface polarity and reduce paint adhesion after plasma pre-treatment. For painted parts, the surface-energy threshold should be confirmed by wetting-ink testing according to ASTM D2578-17; values below 42 mN/m after power washing are associated with cross-hatch adhesion loss under ISO 2409:2013.
The relatively low melt viscosity of ABS 15430GXX makes check-ring leakage more visible than with higher-viscosity ABS grades. During sustained automotive trim production on a 200-tonne machine with shot weight variability below 0.3 g, the check-ring seal performed acceptably at screw speeds of 100–140 min⁻¹ and back pressure of 3–5 MPa. When back pressure was reduced below 2 MPa, cushion position drifted by more than 1.5 mm across 500 shots, producing intermittent sink marks above bosses. The feed zone should be maintained between 220 °C and 235 °C to avoid bridging of partially softened pellets, while the compression zone should not exceed 245 °C. If the ambient plant temperature drops below 18 °C, moisture condensation on cold pellets can occur during hopper transfer; closed conveying and hopper drying are required in this condition.
Regranulation from sprues and runners is permitted up to 20 wt% in opaque black or grey parts without severe notched-impact loss. Colour-critical natural or white components should limit regrind to 10 wt% because successive heat histories increase yellowness and reduce colour batch consistency. Regrind particles should be uniform and free of fines; an accumulated fines fraction above 2 wt% can cause feeding variation and gas burn in thin-wall tools.
The nominal grade is documented in supplier safety data sheets as suitable for industrial electrical, electronic, and appliance components. It is not promoted as a food-contact or implantable medical material. Table 2 records the compliance checks that should be requested from the distributor before component qualification.
| Regulation or standard | Test/designation | Applicability and boundary |
|---|---|---|
| RoHS 2011/65/EU, Annex II | IEC 62321-1:2021 screening | Pb, Hg, Cr(VI), PBB, PBDE limited to 1000 ppm; Cd limited to 100 ppm; lot-level XRF or wet-chemistry data required for import documentation. |
| REACH SVHC | Candidate List package check | Supplier statement for no intentionally added SVHC above 0.1 wt%; annual candidate-list update is necessary because listed substances change. |
| Flammability | UL 94 | HB class at 1.5 mm; no V-2/V-1/V-0 claim unless a lot-specific yellow card is supplied by the manufacturer. |
| Food contact | 21 CFR 177.1010/177.1020 or EU 10/2011 | Not generally certified for food-contact surfaces; migration testing under EU 10/2011 was not part of the standard offering and must be commissioned separately if required. |
Formulation-level incompatibilities concentrate in additive selection. Strongly alkaline processing aids and amine-based anti-static masterbatches should be avoided because alkaline residues can accelerate butadiene-phase degradation during extrusion and reduce notched impact after multiple heat histories. Halogenated flame-retardant masterbatches may require processing temperatures above the ABS melt-temperature ceiling; their use should be confirmed by thermal stability testing and flammability reclassification under UL 94 or ISO 4589-2:2017 oxygen-index testing. The material should not be blended with polycarbonate without revalidating the processing window, because phase compatibility and melt-viscosity balance change the weld-line performance and chemical-resistance profile.
In automotive interior trim, the 15430GXX grade is typically specified for low-to-intermediate mechanical load components such as glove-box outer covers, speaker grilles, and steering-column shrouds. On a 200-tonne injection moulding line with a 2.3 mm wall-thickness glove-box tool, the material was processed at a screw speed of 120 min⁻¹, back pressure of 3 MPa, mould temperature of 50 °C, and cooling time of 12 s. Grain retention after texturing was acceptable when the grain depth was at least 0.08 mm and the cavity surface was prepared to VDI 3400 texture 24–27. For electroplating applications, etch uniformity and plate adhesion depend on butadiene-particle distribution and thermal history; plating-line validation should include thermal cycling from -30 °C to 80 °C for 20 cycles and peel adhesion testing according to ASTM B533-85(2019) before part release.
