Unfilled high-impact ABS based on a butadiene-grafted styrene-acrylonitrile matrix, supplied as Jiangsu Xinfuda ABS H1100 T, enters automotive lower interior trim tooling only after closed-loop dehumidifying drying to 0.02% moisture or below. A hopper-air dew point of -40°C and a resin inlet temperature of 80–85°C for 3–4 h are typical for material stored at 50–60% RH. If the granulate has been exposed to warehouse air above 70% RH, the drying interval is extended to 6 h. Melt temperature at the nozzle is held at 230–250°C. Mould-wall temperature is maintained at 40–60°C to balance grain reproduction and part shrinkage. For grained B-pillar lower trim, seat side shields, and glove-box surrounds, a 2–4 wt% carbon-black masterbatch is metered at the throat. The finished grained surface is inspected for scratch whitening under a 10 N scratch load using a 1.0 mm hemispherical tip. FMVSS 302 is applied to the moulded part as the flammability acceptance basis, with a maximum burn rate of 100 mm/min on a 355 mm specimen. Volatile condensate emissions are evaluated under VDA 277 or PV 3341. H1100 T must be checked against an agreed total carbon emission ceiling, commonly 50 µg C/g for lower interior components, though published data for this specific grade is limited.
Tooling for door-panel trim inserts uses a sequential valve-gate hot-runner layout with two or three drops. Peak injection pressure is limited by screw diameter and part flow-length ratio; hold pressure is maintained until gate freeze at 600–800 bar hydraulic. Weld-line depth at the intersection of a side gate and a rib is controlled below 0.15 mm. Deeper weld lines reduce notched Izod impact under ISO 180/1A at -30°C below 12 kJ/m². Heat-sag evaluation of the demoulded part is performed at 90°C for 24 h with a deformation limit of 0.5 mm. Continuous-use temperature for unfilled high-impact ABS is not assumed above 70–80°C unless annealing and part geometry are qualified. The final component is not recommended for direct exterior exposure without UV protection because the polybutadiene phase undergoes oxidative chalking and gloss loss.
Production-scale sheet lines for H1100 T operate with a single-screw extruder at L/D 33:1, using a screen pack of 40/60/40 mesh and a melt pump. The gear pump suction-side pressure is controlled at 40–60 bar to avoid surging. Barrel temperatures from the feed throat to the die are profiled from 190°C to 230°C. The die temperature is held at 230–240°C. Sheet thickness variation across the web is maintained within ±0.03 mm for sheet below 2.0 mm. Regrind addition is capped at 20 wt% for sheet thicker than 2.0 mm and at 10 wt% for sheet below 1.2 mm to limit gel speck and melt-fracture-induced surface haze. The base H1100 T is not automatically UV-stable. For exterior transport packaging or machine covers, 0.3–0.5 phr of a hindered-amine light stabilizer and 0.2–0.4 phr of a benzotriazole UV absorber are introduced through a 2% carrier masterbatch.
Thermoforming analysis examines sheet-surface temperature uniformity between 140°C and 160°C. Maximum depth-of-draw ratio is held between 1.0:1 and 1.5:1 depending on sheet thickness. Below 120°C, corner cracking appears at the clamp frame. Above 170°C, sheet sag exceeds 15 mm across a 500 mm free span, producing wall-thickness scatter greater than ±0.2 mm in the formed part. The finished article is used as an industrial equipment cover, kiosk enclosure, or material-handling pallet cover. Dimensional stability after forming is checked at 60°C for 72 h with a maximum dimensional change of 0.3%. Edge trimming scrap is recycled only after granulation and dry-air mixing with virgin material at the defined regrind cap.
Appliance housing side panels, console frames, and base plates are injection-moulded using H1100 T where the certificate of analysis places the melt volume-flow rate under ISO 1133-1:2022 at 220°C/10 kg between 4 cm³/10 min and 12 cm³/10 min. The melt temperature is set at 220–250°C. Mould temperature is controlled at 40–60°C. Clamp force is calculated at 3–5 kN/cm² of projected area, depending on flow length and wall section. The hold-pressure profile begins at 60–70% of peak injection pressure for 3–6 s, then reduces to 20–30% until gate seal. For white refrigerator door caps or washing-machine console frames, a styrenic white masterbatch is added at 3–5 wt%, with titanium dioxide loading at 2–4 phr to achieve opacity at 2.0 mm wall thickness.
EU household appliance housings are assessed under EN 60335-1, and the material is usually rated HB under UL 94 at 1.5 mm. The UL Yellow Card must be consulted for the exact colour and thickness rating. Shrinkage after 24 h is measured in-flow at 0.4–0.6% and cross-flow at 0.5–0.7%; corner warpage is reduced by changing gate location rather than by increasing mould temperature beyond 60°C. The finished console frame must resist deflection under a 50 N top-load applied at the centre of an unsupported span. H1100 T parts are not suitable for contact with hot cooking oil above 60°C because stress cracking can develop at oil-grease contact points.
Drain, waste, and vent systems operating below 60°C and at pressures not exceeding 1.0 MPa use ABS fittings injection-moulded from H1100 T only after hydrostatic design basis has been demonstrated under ISO 15494 or EN 1455. Published data for this specific grade in pressure-pipe applications is limited, so hydrostatic testing at 20°C, 60°C, and 80°C is required before series production. Large fittings with wall thickness up to 12 mm are moulded on accumulator-assisted injection machines. Screw back pressure is kept at 0.5–1.0 MPa to homogenize melt without excessive shear heating. Mould temperature is set at 30–50°C. Post-mould shrinkage of 0.4–0.7% after 24 h is compensated in the core and cavity dimensions.
Solvent cement for ABS piping is based on 15–25% ABS resin dissolved in a blend of methyl ethyl ketone and cyclohexanone. Joint cure at 23°C for 24 h is required before pressure testing. The final fitting is used for valve bodies, flanges, and instrument panels in chemical drainage where the fluid is a dilute acid, alkali, or aliphatic hydrocarbon. H1100 T is not resistant to strong ketones, esters, chlorinated solvents, or aromatic hydrocarbons. Continuous contact with these fluids produces swelling, whitening, and eventual stress cracking at moulded-in weld lines. Threaded inserts are avoided where hoop stress exceeds 5 MPa; metal-to-plastic threaded joints are replaced by solvent-welded joints or flanged connections.
Electrical enclosures require an ABS grade that can be hot-runner moulded with consistent colour without plate-out on the cavity surface. H1100 T is introduced at 0.05% moisture maximum. Plate-out is otherwise observed as a white deposit on the mould after 500–800 shots if the hot runner is held at 250°C for more than 20 min during interruptions. The melt temperature for router housings and switch boxes is set at 230–245°C. Mould temperature is held at 40–50°C. Screw decompression is limited to 2–3 mm to prevent drool. H1100 T is not inherently flame retardant. For unattended appliance enclosures requiring a glow-wire ignition temperature of 750°C at 1.0 mm under IEC 60695-2-11, a brominated flame-retardant masterbatch with antimony trioxide synergist is compounded at 18–22 wt%. This modification reduces impact strength and can increase mould deposit frequency. If a V-0 rating is required, H1100 T without FR modification is unsuitable.
Comparative tracking index of unfilled high-impact ABS is typically 600 V under IEC 60112. The grade should not be specified for live parts requiring CTI below 400 V without verification on the final coloured compound. For low-voltage switchgear covers, the part thickness is designed at 2.0–2.5 mm to maintain stiffness and screw-boss pull-out resistance. The final enclosure is subjected to a 1.0 J impact test at 23°C using a 50 mm striker. No crack is acceptable at any external corner. Where a waterproof gasket groove is required, the groove depth is machined into the tool as a 0.4 mm recess to prevent flash formation at the parting line.
| Application | Standard | Test condition | Acceptance basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automotive lower interior trim | FMVSS 302 / ISO 3795 | 355 mm specimen, 38 mm flame height | Burn rate ≤ 100 mm/min |
| Household appliance housing | IEC 60695-2-11 | Glow wire 650°C at 1.0 mm | Per EN 60335-1 clause 30 |
| Drain fitting | ISO 15494 | Hydrostatic at 20°C and 60°C | No burst below required time |
| Toy component | EN 71-3 | Migration of soluble elements | Per standard category limits |
For toys sold in the EU, the finished article must satisfy EN 71-3 migration of soluble elements. For H1100 T, the risk is not the polymer matrix but the colour and additive package. A cadmium-free, lead-free masterbatch at 2–4 wt% is mandatory. Pigment batches containing selenium or chromium should be excluded because their migration can exceed the standard limit. Injection-moulded construction blocks with wall thickness of 1.6–2.0 mm are produced with rapid cycle times of 18–25 s using conformal cooling at 40°C. Core-pin tolerances are maintained at ±0.02 mm because H1100 T shrinkage in-flow is 0.4–0.6% and cross-flow is 0.5–0.7%. The finished part is checked for closing force between stud and tube interfaces at 4–6 N.
H1100 T is also used for action-figure outer shells and sports-equipment covers where high-impact toughness at room temperature is required. Notched Izod impact under ISO 180/1A at 23°C is taken from the supplier certificate and is expected to fall within 20–35 kJ/m² for high-impact ABS, but the exact grade value must be verified per lot. Regrind in toy applications is restricted to 10% internally generated scrap unless the converter can demonstrate full traceability. H1100 T is not suitable for prolonged oral-contact toys or pacifiers because ABS is not certified for that exposure under EN 71-1. The component is also not specified for boiling-water sterilisation above 80°C because distortion and surface blushing occur near the polybutadiene phase relaxation temperature.

Jiangsu Xinfuda ABS H1100 T is a pelletised acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer supplied for injection moulding. The suffix T denotes a rubber-phase modification that increases notched impact energy absorption relative to standard medium-impact ABS without glass reinforcement. The producer’s representative datasheet lists a melt volume-flow rate of 7.0 cm³/10 min measured to ISO 1133-1:2022 at 220 °C under 10 kg load. Because peer-reviewed multi-lot data for this specific Chinese producer grade remain limited, the numerical ranges in this page are producer-datasheet representative values and class-typical high-impact ABS data rather than independently certified design allowables. H1100 T is intended for durable goods housings, electrical enclosures, power-tool shells, appliance fascias, luggage shells, and moulded fittings that require a balance of low-temperature toughness and dimensional stability.
Incoming resin should be sampled for moisture and melt flow rate before transfer to a drying hopper. The melt is pseudoplastic under capillary rheometry to ISO 11443: apparent viscosity at 230 °C falls from approximately 900 Pa·s at 100 s⁻¹ to 180 Pa·s at 1000 s⁻¹. This shear-thinning response allows filling of ribs down to 1.2 mm where the cavity flow-length-to-wall-thickness ratio is less than 120:1; above this ratio, short shots become probable unless sequential valve-gate actuation is used. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion between 23 °C and 55 °C is 80×10⁻⁶ K⁻¹ to 95×10⁻⁶ K⁻¹ to ISO 11359-2, which is relevant when long metal inserts are overmoulded because differential contraction can generate stress cracks at the insert boundary.
The H1100 T grade is differentiated by a bimodal polybutadiene particle distribution and a higher rubber-volume fraction than general-purpose ABS. The higher grafting density of the styrene-acrylonitrile phase onto 0.2 μm to 1.5 μm rubber particles raises notched Izod impact at 23 °C to a representative 28 kJ/m² to 36 kJ/m² when tested to ISO 180/A. At −30 °C, the notched Izod value remains in the 10 kJ/m² to 15 kJ/m² range, which is the main reason H1100 T is selected for freezer-door inner panels and outdoor meter enclosures instead of medium-impact ABS grades that typically fall below 8 kJ/m² under the same condition. The impact shift is accompanied by a deliberately lower melt flow rate than high-flow ABS grades, so hot-runner tooling must be balanced to avoid short shots in thin ribs.

For medium-wall injection moulding, H1100 T must be dried before processing. A dehumidifying hopper dryer set at 80 °C for 2 h to 4 h lowers residual moisture to below 0.05 %. Pellets exposed to ambient air above 60 % RH for more than 4 h absorb enough surface moisture to generate silver streaking and splay in hot-runner drops; re-drying under the same profile is required before fitting the material into a press. The grade should not be purged with polyvinyl chloride or acetal; an ABS or acrylic purge compound is used to avoid acid-catalysed degradation. These are operational boundaries rather than optional recommendations, because partial hydrolysis of the styrene-acrylonitrile matrix under high-shear processing can reduce notched Izod impact values by approximately 20 % to 30 % before visible splay appears.
In a 350 t hydraulic clamp machine fitted with a 45 mm diameter, 20:1 L/D general-purpose screw, H1100 T processes with a hopper-to-nozzle barrel set of 210 °C, 225 °C, 230 °C, 230 °C, 225 °C. Melt temperature measured by an immersion probe should be kept between 220 °C and 250 °C. Below 220 °C, the butadiene-rich phase remains undispersed, increasing screw torque above 80 % of machine rating and causing unmelted nodules on the cavity surface. Above 260 °C, the styrene-acrylonitrile matrix begins to yellow and the butadiene phase can crosslink into gel particles; total residence time above 250 °C should not exceed 5 min. Hot-runner valve gates smaller than 0.8 mm are not recommended because local shear heating greater than 10 K generates free surface splay and reduces weld-line strength. Back pressure between 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa and a cushion of 3 mm to 6 mm provide stable shot weights in medium-shot tools.
On a production-scale 1200 t platform running a 1600 mm × 450 mm × 3 mm appliance fascia tool, H1100 T should be fed through heated sprue bushings and a manifold temperature not exceeding 245 °C. Runner diameter below 8 mm can produce a pressure drop exceeding 35 MPa at a fill time of 1.8 s, which may force injection pressure beyond hydraulic capacity or create gate blush. The observed batch-to-batch variance in melt volume-flow rate within the stated 6.5–9.0 cm³/10 min range can move shot weight by 1.2 % to 2.5 % on such tools, so cushion monitoring and shot-size trim are required during lot changeovers.
Mould surface temperature should be held between 40 °C and 80 °C. At mould temperatures below 40 °C, weld lines in thin-wall enclosures become visible and notched impact at the knit line falls because the ABS is amorphous and cannot crystallise to heal flow fronts. At mould temperatures above 80 °C, cycle time increases without a corresponding gain in stiffness or dimensional stability. For textured fascias, mould temperatures below 40 °C also reduce grain transfer; polished surfaces may require dynamic mould heating to avoid flow marks. Weld-line strength in a 2 mm plaque drops from approximately 12 kJ/m² to 5 kJ/m² when the mould temperature is lowered from 60 °C to 30 °C, which is consistent with frozen-in molecular orientation at the flow front. These weld-line values are based on ISO 180/A tests of moulded plaques and should be verified on production tools.
Jiangsu Xinfuda ABS H1100 T is used in appliance fascia panels, vacuum-cleaner shells, power-tool battery housings, electrical distribution-box covers, luggage shells, and freezer-door inner panels. The material is rated as UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm nominal thickness; it is not a V-0 formulation and must not be specified where flame-retardant enclosure demands exceed HB. In outdoor meter enclosures and vehicle wheel-arch trim, the unpigmented grade requires ultraviolet protection because ABS photo-oxidises through the polybutadiene phase; black or dark grey parts typically include 2 % to 4 % carbon black masterbatch or an ASA capstock to maintain surface retention. For removable power-tool battery housings, boss cracking around screw inserts is a known production-floor failure mode when core pins run below 40 °C; post-mould annealing at 70 °C for 30 min reduces residual stress cracking in threaded brass inserts.
Compared with a 20 % glass-fibre-reinforced ABS grade, H1100 T offers lower flexural modulus and better notched impact at low temperature. Glass-filled ABS typically raises flexural modulus to 5500 MPa or higher but reduces notched Izod at 23 °C below 15 kJ/m², whereas H1100 T remains between 28 kJ/m² and 36 kJ/m². High-heat ABS grades based on α-methylstyrene or maleimide shift Vicat softening above 105 °C, but their melt viscosity is higher and their low-temperature impact is usually lower. The H1100 T grade therefore occupies a narrow processing position: it is not the stiffest, not the most heat-resistant, and not the easiest-flowing ABS, but it is selected when cold-temperature ductility and moderate processability are the controlling requirements. The selected grade should not be used above 85 °C continuous service under load; published data for this specific configuration are limited.

Relative to high-impact polystyrene, Jiangsu Xinfuda ABS H1100 T has higher tensile yield stress and greater resistance to environmental stress cracking in vegetable oil and dilute household cleaners. High-impact polystyrene as a comparator typically has tensile yield stress below 25 MPa and cannot retain gloss after repeated wiping with surfactant solutions, whereas ABS H1100 T remains above 40 MPa and shows no whitening in the same exposure to ISO 175 immersion tests. Compared with ASA, H1100 T lacks the weatherable ester-free matrix needed for unpigmented outdoor parts; ASA retains colour and impact after prolonged UV ageing, while unmodified ABS develops chalking and a fall in notched Izod below 20 kJ/m² after outdoor exposure depending on radiation dose and part orientation.
For compliance, the producer supplies declarations for REACH SVHC content below 0.1 % w/w and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II restricted substances below the maximum concentration values. This covers lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE, and the four phthalates added by Directive (EU) 2015/863. Those declarations are lot- or grade-level documents and should be requested for each shipment. Halogen-free or flame-retardant equivilances are not covered by H1100 T.
Chemical compatibility follows the general ABS profile: aliphatic hydrocarbons, dilute acids, and dilute alkalis under low stress are generally tolerated; methyl ethyl ketone, dichloromethane, tetrahydrofuran, and aromatic solvents cause rapid attack. Gasoline splash on stressed bosses can induce environmental stress cracking unless parts are stress-relieved or design features avoid high residual stress. For components requiring potable-water contact, direct food-contact status, or V-0 flammability, H1100 T must not be specified without additional migration, certification, or formulation data from the producer. The grade is supplied with lot-specific certificates of analysis showing melt flow rate, Izod impact, and Vicat softening temperature; users should verify these against incoming moisture and regrind content before compounding floor stock.
