As an accredited Hualu ASA factory, we enforce strict quality protocols—every batch undergoes rigorous testing to ensure consistent efficacy and safety standards.
| Packing | Hualu ASA is packaged in 25 kg moisture-proof bags, stacked on pallets and shrink-wrapped for secure transport and storage. |
| Container Loading (20′ FCL) | Hualu ASA is packed and loaded into a 20′ FCL container, properly palletized, secured, and labeled for safe ocean freight. |
| Shipping | Hualu ASA is typically shipped as a non-hazardous solid in sealed 25 kg bags or fiber drums, palletized and shrink-wrapped. Keep dry and protect from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight; store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Always follow the SDS and local transport regulations. |
| Storage | Store Hualu ASA in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources, and direct sunlight. Keep containers tightly closed and clearly labeled, protecting contents from moisture and contamination. Segregate from incompatible materials and follow the supplier’s safety data sheet. Use suitable secondary containment and maintain good housekeeping. Ensure access is restricted to trained personnel and observe local regulations. |
| Shelf Life | Hualu ASA has a shelf life of approximately 24 months when stored sealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat. |
Production-scale injection molding of Hualu ASA for radiator grilles, mirror housings, and cowl vent covers begins with a desiccant dryer set to a dew point of -40 °C or lower. The pellets are dried at 80 °C for 4 h so that residual moisture remains below 0.05 wt%. The material is processed on a reciprocating screw machine with a screw L/D of 20:1 to 24:1 and a compression ratio of 2.0:1 to 2.5:1. Barrel temperatures are set between 230 °C and 260 °C, with the nozzle held at 250 °C for high-gloss black parts and mold surface temperatures maintained at 60 °C to 80 °C. Hold pressure is controlled at 60 MPa to 80 MPa, and injection speed is profiled to prevent gate blush and jetting. Clamp force is selected at 4 kN/cm² to 6 kN/cm² of projected area. The main field failure mode is not mechanical fracture but gloss loss and color shift. Therefore, the QC plan includes weathering intervals rather than only initial tensile strength.
Regrind incorporation is limited to 20 wt% in non-appearance areas. Higher regrind ratios lower notched impact and increase variation in surface gloss. Dark-gray and black formulations are tested under ISO 4892-2 Method A cycle 1 to an energy dose of 3000 kJ/m², with ΔE values compared against the OEM limit of 2.0 to 3.0. Published data for Hualu ASA with specific color concentrates is limited. Each pigment masterbatch must be validated because carbon black loading and UV stabilizer packages affect the erosion rate of the acrylic ester phase. Tensile yield stress is measured on ISO 527-2 type 1A specimens at 50 mm/min, and notched Charpy impact is measured on ISO 179-1/1eA specimens at 23 °C. The material should not be purged with acetal or PVC residues in the same barrel. Incompatible melt residues reduce weld line strength and produce black specks.
The use of Hualu ASA as a weatherable cap layer over rigid PVC in window lineals and fascia profiles is governed by the difference in coefficient of linear thermal expansion between the two layers. A cap layer of 150 µm to 250 µm is coextruded on a 35 mm single-screw extruder with an L/D of 24:1 and a barrier screw. The ASA barrel profile runs from 200 °C at the feed zone to 230 °C at the die adapter, while the PVC substrate extruder operates at 180 °C to 200 °C. The coextrusion die is held at 210 °C to 220 °C to protect the PVC phase. The cap layer is combined through a feedblock with land lengths at least 10 times the cap gap. After the die, the profile passes through vacuum calibration sleeves at -0.08 MPa and water baths at 15 °C to 20 °C.
The CLTE of ASA is generally between 8×10⁻⁵ K⁻¹ and 1×10⁻⁴ K⁻¹, whereas rigid PVC is lower. This mismatch creates interfacial shear during diurnal thermal cycling. A lower-modulus ASA capstock or an acrylic-modified grade is therefore specified when the profile length exceeds 2 m. The completed profile is conditioned at 23 °C ± 2 °C and 50 % ± 10 % relative humidity for 24 h before dimensional checks. Surface color change is assessed under ISO 4892-3 with condensation, and impact performance of the full profile is evaluated under EN 477. The cap layer must be free of pinholes because water ingress between ASA and PVC causes delamination during freeze-thaw cycles.
When Hualu ASA replaces painted steel in outdoor telecommunications and power distribution enclosures, the first process change is the shift from sheet metal forming to injection molding with hot runner or valve gate sequencing. Large enclosure bases are molded on machines with clamp force calculated at 4 kN/cm² to 6 kN/cm² of projected area. Melt temperature is set at 240 °C to 250 °C, mold temperature at 50 °C to 70 °C, and packing pressure is profiled so that gate seal time remains between 6 s and 10 s. The main process risks are sink marks above bosses, warpage at the sealing flange, and weld line weakness at cable entry ports. Gate placement is biased toward heavy wall sections, and flow leaders are added to keep filling pressure below 90 MPa.
The following test matrix is applied to outdoor enclosure parts before release:
| Test method | Condition | Acceptance criterion |
| IEC 60529 | IP65 dust and water jet | No ingress after 15 min at 12.5 L/min |
| UL 94 | 1.5 mm specimen | HB minimum; V-0 only with FR package |
| ISO 4892-2 | Method A cycle 1, 3000 kJ/m² | ΔE ≤ 3.0 or OEM-specific |
| ISO 178 | 23 °C, 2 mm/min | Flexural modulus within datasheet ±10 % |
For unmodified Hualu ASA, the expected UL 94 classification at 1.5 mm is HB. Applications requiring V-0 or 5VA performance must use a flame-retardant package, and the resulting compound must be revalidated under ISO 4892-2 because brominated or phosphorous additives shift the UV failure mode from surface erosion to chalking and can reduce notched Charpy impact. The sealing flange is designed with a minimum radius of 0.5 mm at the gasket groove corner. Sharper corners crack under compression set after thermal aging at 85 °C for 1000 h.
For pool pump housings, skimmer covers, jet fittings, and filter valve bodies, the selection of Hualu ASA depends on free chlorine concentration, water temperature, and internal stress from insert molding. Continuous exposure to pool water at 3 mg/L to 5 mg/L free chlorine and 40 °C is not a primary stress-cracking driver for ASA, but the combination of hot chlorinated water above 60 °C and high molded-in stress at brass insert bosses can initiate microcracking. Published data for Hualu ASA in this exact chlorine-temperature-stress configuration is limited. ASTM D543 immersion testing at 60 °C in 5 mg/L sodium hypochlorite solution is used to rank candidate lots. The mold temperature is raised to 80 °C to reduce frozen-in orientation, and insert temperature is held at 120 °C to 140 °C before overmolding.
Gate size is set at 60 % to 80 % of the adjacent wall thickness for pressure-bearing filter valve sections. Packing time is extended until the gate freezes, and a slow decompression profile is used to avoid sink near the hub. Parts are annealed at 80 °C for 2 h after ejection when the wall thickness exceeds 3 mm. The operating boundary is that Hualu ASA should not be specified for continuous pressure-bearing hot tub wet ends where sustained water temperature exceeds 60 °C or where ozone generators produce dissolved ozone above 0.5 mg/L. Ozone accelerates oxidative attack on the acrylate phase. The material also resists aliphatic pool chemicals but is incompatible with ketone-based primers and strong aromatic solvents used in some field repair coatings.
At sheet surface temperatures below 150 °C, thermoforming Hualu ASA for snowmobile hoods increases corner thinning and orientation. Sheet is extruded at 1.5 mm to 4.0 mm thickness on a single-screw extruder with a polished roll stack operating at 80 °C, 90 °C, and 70 °C. The sheet surface is heated to 160 °C to 190 °C before forming on aluminum tooling. Plug assist is used to shift material into deep draws, and tool temperature is held at 60 °C to 80 °C to reduce surface marking. The material is evaluated by notched Charpy impact at -30 °C according to ISO 179-1/1eA. Unfilled ASA typically retains higher low-temperature ductility than standard ABS because the acrylate elastomer phase has a lower glass transition temperature. The exact impact value must be taken from the Hualu ASA datasheet and confirmed on molded or thermoformed skins, not on compression-molded plaques alone.
The main field failure mode is not bulk fracture but surface whitening at hinge lines and sharp creases. Therefore, minimum bend radius during part design is set at 2 times the local wall thickness. Parts are also tested under ISO 4892-2 to 2500 kJ/m² to confirm color stability after one full winter season. Regrind from thermoforming web is limited to 15 wt% because sheet trim contains heat history and partial orientation. Higher regrind levels reduce sag resistance and create visible streak lines. The same processing window is used for side-by-side fender flares and RV lower side skirts, where road gravel impact at -20 °C is the determining load case.
During field service on tractors, combines, and sprayer shrouds, Hualu ASA panels are exposed to diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, dilute fertilizer solutions, and crop protection chemicals. The material is selected for unpainted exterior panels because it removes the paint adhesion step and has lower UV yellowing than general-purpose ABS. Chemical resistance is ranked using ISO 175 immersion tests at 23 °C and 60 °C for 7 d, and environmental stress cracking is assessed under ISO 22088-3 with a constant strain fixture. The resin is not recommended for continuous immersion in methyl ethyl ketone, methylene chloride, concentrated sulfuric acid, or strong aromatic esters. These solvents induce stress cracking and surface swelling. Aliphatic diesel and hydraulic oil films are less aggressive, but oil penetration at weld lines requires a minimum weld line strength factor of 0.8 against the unwelded reference.
Large panels are injection molded at 240 °C to 255 °C melt temperature and 70 °C mold temperature. Because panel thickness is between 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm, packing pressure is profiled in two stages to reduce sink at rib intersections. The dimensioned parts are checked after conditioning at 23 °C ± 2 °C and 50 % ± 10 % RH for 48 h. This application zone is typically shallow in process risk once the chemical environment has been defined. The dominant rejection causes are surface gloss variation and visible flow lines rather than mechanical failure.
To establish a stable molding window for Hualu ASA battery management system covers and e-bike enclosure parts, the screw recovery time and weld line strength are monitored on an electric injection molding machine with a 40 mm screw and L/D of 22:1. Melt residence time is kept below 10 min at 250 °C to avoid yellowing and a drop in notched impact. Weld line specimens are molded with a double-gate tool and tested according to ISO 527-2 type 1A at 5 mm/min. The required weld line factor is 0.75 or higher for covers with snap features near the gate junction. Below this threshold, latches fail in drop tests from 1 m at 0 °C. Mold temperature is held at 70 °C to slow the freeze-off at the melt front.
Unmodified Hualu ASA is not a substitute for flame-retardant PC/ABS or polycarbonate in lithium-ion cell containment because it does not provide UL 94 V-0 without an additive package and has lower elevated-temperature modulus. If a V-0 requirement at 1.5 mm is imposed, the FR-grade processing window narrows to 240 °C maximum melt temperature and requires a dedicated screw with low compression ratio to avoid acid release. The application boundary is therefore secondary housings, BMS covers, and charger enclosures where the main requirement is UV stability and impact retention rather than primary thermal runaway containment. Parts are also tested under ISO 4892-2 at 2500 kJ/m² to confirm that the color and surface do not shift after outdoor use.
