In three-layer coextruded blown film, Exact 4033 is typically placed in the sealant layer at a dosage of 60–90 wt% within that layer, with an LLDPE of melt index between 0.9 g/10 min and 2.0 g/10 min comprising the remaining 10–40 wt% and a slip/antiblock masterbatch added at 1–3 wt%; when the sealant layer represents 20–30% of a 50 µm total film, the overall dosage of Exact 4033 in the structure is 12–27 wt%. The nominal density of 0.880 g/cm³ (ASTM D1505-18) and melt index of 0.80 g/10 min (ASTM D1238-20, 190 °C/2.16 kg) lower the seal initiation below that of conventional C4-LLDPE sealants; the DSC melting peak of 55 °C (ASTM D3418-21) permits reduced heat-seal jaw setpoints, but the exact jaw temperature required for a seal strength of 4.5 N/15 mm depends on film thickness, seal pressure, and dwell time. For food contact, the finished web is formulated and converted to meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and the overall migration limits of Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 and its amendments, with migration testing according to EN 1186-1:2002 using the simulants assigned under Annex III. The converting line employs a three-layer blown film die with a die gap of 2.0–2.5 mm, extruders with L/D ratios between 28:1 and 30:1, barrel temperatures from 150 °C to 190 °C, and a blow-up ratio of 2.2–2.8; the low melt index produces a higher-viscosity sealant layer than adjacent LLDPE skin layers, so the die lips and frost line height are adjusted to control interfacial instability and melt resonance. Corona treatment at 38–42 mN/m is applied downstream for printing or lamination. Finished goods include lidding films for thermoformed trays, frozen food flow-wrap overwrap, stand-up pouch sealant webs, and liner webs for bulk liquid packaging.
Halogen-free flame-retardant sheathing compounds based on metal hydroxide fillers present a processing boundary set by the dehydration temperature of aluminium trihydroxide, not by the melt temperature of Exact 4033. In this application the plastomer is added at 20–35 wt% of the compound, with aluminium trihydroxide at 50–65 wt%, a maleic anhydride-grafted polyolefin coupling agent at 2–5 wt%, hindered phenolic antioxidant at 0.2–0.5 wt%, and processing aid at 0.5–1.0 wt%. The compound is produced on a twin-screw extruder with an L/D of 40:1 and a side feeder positioned in zone 5; melt temperatures are maintained between 170 °C and 190 °C because the evolution of water from aluminium trihydroxide begins near 180–200 °C, and any sustained excursion above that range creates porosity in the extrudate by steam evolution. Melt filtration through screen packs of 80/120/80 mesh removes unmelted filler agglomerates before pelletizing. The pellets are subsequently extruded on a single-screw cable line with an L/D of 25:1 through a tubing die onto a copper or aluminium conductor, with haul-off speed and die diameter set to maintain a sheath wall thickness of 0.8–2.5 mm. Regulatory control for finished low-voltage cables includes IEC 60502-1 for construction and material requirements, IEC 60332-1-2 for flame propagation on a single insulated conductor, UL 1581 where North American vertical flame ratings are required, and Directive 2011/65/EU for restriction of hazardous substances. Finished formats include low-voltage power cable sheathing, automotive battery cable jacketing, appliance wiring insulation, and building wire sheathing.

Compatibility with ethylene oxide and gamma sterilization drives the use of Exact 4033 in medical packaging film and non-implant tubing because the polymer does not contain vinyl acetate or chloride residues that would generate extractable acid species under sterilant exposure. For blown sterile barrier films, the sealant layer is formulated with 55–85 wt% Exact 4033 and 15–45 wt% LLDPE, plus a slip package below 0.5 wt%; for extruded fluid pathway tubing, the compound contains 40–70 wt% Exact 4033 with a polypropylene random copolymer or an LLDPE selected for low gel count. Compounding and film conversion are conducted on cleanroom lines equipped with gear pumps and melt filters of 100 µm retention, with blown film melt temperatures between 150 °C and 190 °C, a blow-up ratio of 2.0–2.6, and a die gap of 1.8–2.5 mm; tubing is extruded through a single-screw line with an L/D of 25:1, water quench, and a puller that controls lumen diameter and wall thickness within ±0.05 mm. Biological evaluation is performed under ISO 10993-5:2009 for cytotoxicity and ISO 10993-10:2010 for sensitization, with packaging validation under ISO 11607-1:2019 and plastic material characterization according to USP 661.1; food-grade status in secondary food packages follows FDA 21 CFR 177.1520. Finished products include sterile barrier pouches, pouch header film, lidding stock for rigid trays, irrigation tubing, and wound drainage tubing for non-implant use.
If sub-zero impact is required in a polypropylene interior trim compound, Exact 4033 is added at 10–25 wt% of the total compound mass to an impact copolymer carrier resin; loadings below 10 wt% are generally avoided because the dispersed-phase interparticle distance remains too large to trigger the matrix shear yielding needed at −30 °C, while loadings above 25 wt% cause a steep flexural modulus loss that can make thin-wall exterior parts unacceptable without redesign. Compounding uses a twin-screw extruder with an L/D of 40:1 and mixing elements placed in zones 4 through 6, with melt temperatures from 200 °C to 230 °C and screw speed adjusted to the polypropylene MFI; the 0.80 g/10 min melt index of Exact 4033 produces a higher-viscosity dispersed phase, so distributive mixing elements are selected to prevent domain coalescence before the strands are pelletized. The finished compound is evaluated for notched impact according to ISO 180/A at 23 °C and −30 °C, flexural modulus according to ISO 178, and multi-axial impact according to ASTM D3763-18. Automotive interior parts manufactured from the compound fall under EU Directive 2000/53/EC for end-of-life vehicles and REACH Article 33 communication duties for substances of very high concern; flame spread is tested according to ISO 3795 where interior vertical surfaces are involved. Injection molding of the pellets uses clamp forces of 5000–15000 kN depending on projected area, hot runner temperatures from 200 °C to 240 °C, and mold temperatures from 20 °C to 50 °C. Terminal components include automotive door panel lower trims, interior pillar covers, appliance housing corner pieces, and power tool battery housings.
Flat die extrusion of a very low density polyolefin membrane is selected where lay-flat behavior at low installation temperatures and high multiaxial elongation are more critical than the high modulus provided by HDPE. For non-reinforced polyolefin geomembranes specified under GRI GM17 or owner specifications derived from it, Exact 4033 is blended at 70–100 wt% with LLDPE at 0–25 wt%, carbon black masterbatch at 2–3 wt%, and hindered amine stabilizer at 0.1–0.3 wt%; the carbon black is included for ultraviolet stabilization in exposed installations, and the 0.880 g/cm³ density improves conformability over subgrade irregularities. Sheet production is carried out on a flat die extruder and calendering roll stack to thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm; the calendering nip and roll temperatures are controlled to prevent melt fracturing because the low melt index of Exact 4033 retains higher melt viscosity than the LLDPE used in conventional liner structures. Hot-wedge welding is performed at wedge temperatures lower than those used for HDPE because the plastomer enters low-melt shear thinning earlier; the practical boundary is weld-thinning and inconsistent shear elongation when heat input is excessive, although published data for the specific 4033 seam window is limited. Seam peel and shear are verified according to ASTM D6392, field welding procedures according to ASTM D4437, and puncture resistance according to ASTM D4833 where project specifications require it. Terminal membrane types include pond liners, landfill cap cover layers, canal liners, and temporary containment liners used in environmental remediation.
The replacement of EVA in extrusion coating removes acetic acid hydrolysis byproducts and lowers the seal initiation temperature of the coated paperboard or cellulosic substrate, but it also raises melt pressure at the die lip because Exact 4033 has a lower melt index than conventional EVA coating grades. The coating polymer is run as 100 wt% Exact 4033 or diluted with LDPE at 0–30 wt% to adjust neck-in and draw-down; coat weights from 15 g/m² to 35 g/m² are typical, with weights below 15 g/m² requiring tighter control of air gap and chill roll speed to avoid pinholing. Extrusion coating lines use a single-screw extruder with an L/D of 30:1, a melt temperature from 250 °C to 290 °C, a die-to-chill-roll air gap of 200–250 mm, and a chill roll temperature of 10–18 °C with a matte or gloss finish specified by the converter; the die lip opening is adjusted to maintain the desired coat weight at line speeds typical of paperboard packaging. Food contact coatings are evaluated under FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, with organoleptic testing required by many dairy and dry food converters to confirm that no off-taste transfers to the packed product. Seal strength is measured according to ASTM F88/F88M-21 after the coated substrate is heat-sealed against a formed cup or tray. Terminal formats include coated paperboard lidding for yoghurt and dessert cups, multi-layer sachet webs for dry beverage powders, and packaging laminate tie layers where EVA is being removed from the structure.
