For lower instrument panel trim, center console side covers, door pull cup bezels, and A/B/C pillar lower trim, the governing constraint is not tensile strength but the interaction between melt viscosity and mold surface replication. Dongguang Linda Plastic ABS M3826 is dried at 80°C for 2–4 h with a desiccant-bed dew point of ≤ -30°C, reducing residual moisture below 0.05 wt%; processors on automotive lines use closed-loop desiccant hoppers with air flow of 1.5–2.0 m³/h per kg/h throughput to prevent splay on textured surfaces. The melt temperature is held at 230–250°C, mold temperature at 40–60°C, and injection velocity is profiled to maintain a flow-front velocity above 300 mm/s on polished ribs and bosses, preventing hesitation lines behind snap-fit features. The melt volume-flow rate is checked against lot certification under ISO 1133-1:2022 at 220°C/10 kg; converter control limits for automotive interior production are typically ±2 g/10 min from the supplier nominal value. Failure modes recorded on 800–1200 t hydraulic injection machines with general-purpose screws of 20:1 L/D include gas burns on wall sections thinner than 1.2 mm when melt temperature exceeds 250°C, and excessive orientational stress when mold temperature drops below 35°C. The formulation is 100 wt% virgin M3826 at the feed throat with an OEM-approved interior color concentrate dosed at 2–4 wt%; for upper instrument panel shelf areas receiving indirect sunlight, an additivation pack based on hindered amine light stabilizer and benzotriazole UV absorber is compounded at 0.8–1.5 wt% total. Compliance requires FMVSS 302 horizontal burn rate not exceeding 100 mm/min, ISO 3795:1989 equivalent, and cabin air limits under VDA 275 gravimetric fogging; many OEM specifications add VDA 270 odor class and abrasion trim standards requiring a textured surface of 2–5 µm Ra. Molded-in-color matte surfaces are graded under Volkswagen PV 3952 abrasion testing at 10 N load; without grain texture above 4 µm Ra, unpainted surfaces fall below class 5, so graining is applied to high-touch areas. Terminal output includes painted or molded-in-color lower instrument panel trim, seat side shields, glove box outer covers, and door panel switch bezels; for high-gloss piano-black surfaces, M3826 exhibits micro-scratch after repeated contact with rings or cleaning brushes, so a UV-cured hardcoat or physical vapor deposition primer is applied in post-mold painting cells rather than relying on the bare resin.
In household appliance enclosures where washing machine control panel bases, canister vacuum cleaner bodies, air purifier front fascias, and dishwasher lower trim are molded, chemical exposure to alkaline cleaners and anionic detergent solutions at 40–60°C drives material selection toward high molecular orientation resistance. The addition ratio is 96–98 wt% M3826 with 2–4 wt% appliance-grade color masterbatch, typically titanium dioxide-based white at 3–4 wt% for hiding power; if static dust accumulation is a failure mode on air purifier intakes, a non-bridging antistatic masterbatch is dosed at 1.5–2.5 wt%, but gloss retention decreases by 3–5 GU at 60° gloss meter measurement under ISO 2813:2014. Drying precedes processing at 80°C for 3–4 h, and regrind from hot runners is limited to 20 wt% with no more than one thermal cycle, because repeated extrusion lowers impact above 15% due to thermo-oxidative chain scission in the butadiene phase. Molding parameters on 1200–1800 t hydraulic machines with sequential valve-gate hot manifolds are set to melt temperature 230–245°C and mold temperature 45–65°C; polished cavity inserts with diamond finish produce a surface gloss of 88–92 GU at 60°, while textured surfaces are shot peened to 4–8 µm Ra to hide weld lines at bosses. Compliance is evaluated under IEC 60335-1:2020, Clauses 30.2 and 30.2.3, with glow wire tests per IEC 60695-2-11 at 650°C for unattended appliance housings where current is below 0.5 A; the grade is not inherently UL 94 V-0, so flame-retardant versions are not achieved by adding low levels of masterbatch. External appliance shells are tested for detergent stress-cracking by immersion in 5% sodium carbonate solution at 50°C for 48 h; production data show that gate-area cracking initiates when demolding draft is below 1° and ejection force creates surface tensile stress above the residual relaxation capacity of the polybutadiene phase. Because the grade is not certified for direct food contact under Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, dishwasher cutlery baskets and food trays are excluded from the application window. Terminal products include top-load washing machine control panels, canister vacuum cleaner bodies, robot vacuum top covers, and air purifier front grilles, all of which rely on M3826’s balance of high melt fluidity for ribbed structural sections and sufficient low-temperature impact for drop shipping at -10°C ambient.
Router base housings, smart speaker enclosures, power adapter shells, and switch faceplates require dimensional stability during continuous exposure to internal board heat. M3826 is processed as a 100 wt% base resin or with 2–4 wt% matte texturing masterbatch to reduce fingerprint visibility; when antistatic performance is required for static-dissipative routers or network attached storage frames, a carbon nanotube antistatic masterbatch is dosed at 2–3 wt%, but surface resistivity falls only to 108–109 Ω/sq under IEC 61340-2-3. Melt temperature is maintained at 235–250°C, mold temperature at 40–55°C, and the hot-runner tip temperature is limited to 260°C to avoid yellowing at the gate blush area. Thin-wall fill of 1.0–1.5 mm on adapter covers is achieved with injection speeds of 80–120 mm/s and peak cavity pressures of 40–60 MPa; equipment with 800 t clamp force and 20:1 L/D screws avoids over-shearing because residence time above 15 min produces acetaldehyde-type degradation odor. The heat deflection temperature of unfilled ABS limits its use to enclosures where internal air temperature near the wall does not exceed 70–75°C; for UL 94 testing, unfilled M3826 is classified HB under UL 94 at 1.5 mm, and no dry-silane surface additive converts it to V-0. If a customer requires V-0 at 1.5 mm, the downstream compounder blends M3826 with 14–18 wt% brominated epoxy/antimony trioxide masterbatch and 1–2 wt% impact modifier, but this shifts heat deflection temperature upward by only 3–5°C and reduces Izod impact by 20–30%. Enclosure compliance is assessed under IEC 62368-1:2023 enclosure fire risk, including ball pressure testing under IEC 60695-10-2 where applicable, RoHS 2011/65/EU amended by (EU) 2015/863, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Article 33 SVHC communication.
| Mandatory reference | Assessment | Typical criterion |
|---|---|---|
| IEC 62368-1:2023 Clause 6.4 | Enclosure fire risk after internal fault | No ignition or limited flame spread; V-0 not required if construction meets isolating barrier rules |
| UL 94 horizontal burning | HB classification at 1.5 mm | Burn rate ≤ 75 mm/min for 3.0–13.0 mm thickness band |
| IEC 60695-2-11 | Glow wire flammability index | GWFI 650°C/2 mm for unattended appliances if referenced by product standard |
| RoHS 2011/65/EU + (EU) 2015/863 | XRF screening for Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr(VI), PBB, PBDE, DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP | Homogeneous material ≤ 1000 ppm; Cd ≤ 100 ppm |
Terminal products include gigabit router housings, Wi-Fi access point covers, smart speaker shells with high-polish front rings, power adapter top cover assemblies, and modular switch faceplates; all are free of cadmium, lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium above 1000 ppm total unless specific RoHS exemptions apply.
Migration limits for eight soluble elements under EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021 restrict pigment masterbatch selection in toys more tightly than the ABS matrix itself; the formulation is therefore 100 wt% M3826 with a certifiable color concentrate at 2–4 wt%, and only masterbatch carriers based on ethylene-vinyl acetate or polyolefin that comply with EU Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII entry 51/52 phthalate restrictions are accepted. Building bricks, miniature vehicle bodies, ball track segments, and board game tokens molded from M3826 are dried to below 0.05 wt% moisture at 80°C for 2–3 h, then injection molded at melt temperatures of 220–240°C and mold temperatures of 30–50°C; because wall thickness ranges from 1.5 mm on brick side walls to 4.0 mm on chassis components, the process uses profiled injection speed starting at 30 mm/s and ramping to 80 mm/s to prevent jetting artifacts that create weak weld lines at interlocking studs. ASTM F963-17 impact testing is reflected in mold design by avoiding sharp internal radii below 0.5 mm at snap-fit elements, and cold-temperature conditioning at 0°C is performed when toy vehicles are destined for outdoor winter play. The gate location is placed in the non-appearance underside of the part to avoid visible blush on high-gloss surfaces; hot-runner sequential valve gates are used only on multi-cavity brick molds with 16–32 cavities, where fill imbalance above 5% creates inter-cavity weight variation above 0.25% and downstream assembly interference. Compliance includes ISO 8124-3:2020 for soluble element migration, ASTM F963-17 for safety of toys, and EN 71-1:2014+A1:2018 for small part cylinder and sharp edge assessment, even though the latter is influenced by component geometry rather than resin chemistry. Terminal part categories include ABS construction brick bodies, toy vehicle chassis, train track connectors, game piece trays, and puzzle frames; all color batches are archived against lot-specific migration test reports because masterbatch variation at 1–2 wt% can shift antimony migration from below detection to above the 60 mg/kg limit if recycled pigment sources are used.
Lipstick caps, compact cases, fragrance overcoats, and cosmetic brush handles demand high surface replication and resistance to lipids, fatty esters, and alcohol-based hand sanitizers. The formulation ratio is 100 wt% M3826 or 98–99 wt% M3826 with 1–2 wt% high-gloss black masterbatch; transparent or translucent packages are not produced from this grade because its inherent opacity and rubber-phase haze prevent light transmission above 10% at 2 mm. Drying is mandatory at 80°C for 3–4 h to a moisture content below 0.04 wt%, because glossy black caps magnify silver streaks and splay. Mold temperature is elevated to 60–80°C to improve the polished surface replication; cavity inserts are machined from high-hardness stainless steel and diamond-polished to 0.01–0.02 µm Ra, with mold venting at 0.02–0.03 mm depth to prevent diesel effect near the gate. Melt temperature is set at 230–250°C, and injection rate is reduced in the final 20% of fill to prevent contact-angle variation on the high-gloss side; demolding draft is held at 0.5–1.5° to avoid ejection marks, and release force is controlled with a non-silicone external mold release at 0.2–0.5 wt% aqueous dilution. Packaging compliance is assessed under Directive 94/62/EC heavy metal limits for packaging and packaging waste, with total lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium not exceeding 100 ppm by weight in the packaging component; REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII restrictions on hazardous substances and SVHC content apply. Compatibility with product formulas is not universal: continuous contact with isopropyl myristate, cetyl ethylhexanoate, or high-ethanol fragrance bases at 45–60°C can cause environmental stress cracking at internal mold stress above the polymer’s critical stress for those fluids; packaged components are therefore annealed at 70°C for 30–60 min after molding to reduce molded-in stress below the threshold. Terminal product types include vacuum-metallized lipstick caps, injection-molded compact bases and lids, fragrance overcap rings, and brush handle bodies; all are post-molded with either a solvent-free UV primer or physical vapor deposition base layer when a metallic surface is required, because bulk-polymerized ABS does not provide direct aluminum adhesion under ISO 2409:2020 cross-cut testing above class 2 without surface activation.
Cordless power tool battery-pack covers and charger base housings convert drop energy into flexural strain across screw bosses, snap-fit retention tabs, and corner ribs; M3826 is selected for these components when the tool housing is not continuously exposed to motor heat above 65°C. The compounding or dosing ratio at the press is 97–98 wt% M3826 with 2–3 wt% color masterbatch and 0.5–1.0 wt% processing stabilizer masterbatch; for outdoor-rated battery packs subjected to -20°C drop tests, compounders add 5–10 wt% of a low-Tg impact modifier or blend with polycarbonate at 20–30 wt% to raise notched Izod impact, but this moves the heat deflection temperature and increases melt viscosity, requiring melt temperature increase to 250–270°C in a 30:1 L/D compounding extruder. The injection molding process for battery pack lower housings uses 700–900 t clamp force, 40–60 mm screw diameter, and 2–4 stage injection profile; mold temperature is held at 50–70°C, and gas-assisted molding is used for thick corner bosses to prevent sink marks deeper than 0.03 mm on the mating seal groove. Compliance for cordless tool battery pack enclosures includes IEC 62841-1:2014, Clause 20, mechanical strength and drop impact from 1.0 m onto concrete, IEC 60068-2-75 spring hammer impact at 0.5 J where applicable, and UL 2595 or IEC 62368-1 for charger bases where battery management circuits generate local heating. Material compliance is verified under REACH and RoHS, and flame performance of non-FR ABS is acceptable only when the enclosure is classified as non-ignition-susceptible by the product standard. Failure modes observed on production lines include cracking at ultrasonic weld joints when glass fiber content is improperly blended above 5 wt%, and ejection pin push-through when the mold core temperature exceeds 70°C; therefore the mold coring circuit includes separate thermolators for cavity and core, with core temperature set 10–15°C lower than the cavity to prevent local softening. Terminal part types include power tool battery pack lower housings, charger base enclosures, battery charger top covers, and drill/driver dust shroud adapters; all are produced with a production control plan that records melt temperature at nozzle, cold slug retention, and regrind ratio, but published data for this specific configuration is limited, so validation on the actual mold is required before series approval.

Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene pellets designated Dongguang Linda Plastic ABS M3826 are supplied as a rigid thermoplastic in the general-purpose injection-molding segment. The material is a two-phase system in which grafted polybutadiene particles are dispersed in a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer matrix; the rubber-phase volume fraction, particle-size distribution, and grafting efficiency control the balance between notched impact resistance and melt fluidity. Incoming resin should be inspected for pellet discoloration, fines content, and moisture because these variables influence screw feeding consistency on production-scale injection presses with plasticating units of 20:1 to 24:1 L/D. A moisture level above 0.10 wt% is associated with surface splay, reduced tensile elongation at break, and intermittent vent-flow at the nozzle. Batch certification should be checked against the designation blocks in ISO 2580-2:2017 for ABS molding materials, and the certificate of analysis should record melt volume-flow rate using ISO 1133-1:2022.

The ranges in Table 1 are the property envelope commonly associated with medium-flow injection ABS of this grade class and are provided for preliminary material selection only. Specific numerical values for this configuration should be taken from the batch certificate because compound variation, colorant loading, and regrind ratio can shift values by up to ±10%. Mold-filling calculations should therefore be updated with supplier viscosity coefficients rather than default generic ABS data.
Drying of ABS M3826 on a desiccant-bed dryer is recommended when storage relative humidity exceeds 60% RH or when opened packaging has been exposed for more than 4 h. A dryer dew point of -30 °C and an inlet air temperature of 80 °C for 2 h to 4 h reduce residual moisture below 0.05 wt%; moisture content may be confirmed by Karl Fischer titration per ISO 15512:2019 or by a calibrated weight-loss method. Because ABS M3826 is hygroscopic, equilibrium moisture content depends on ambient relative humidity and temperature. At 23 °C and 50% RH, pellet moisture equilibrates near 0.2 wt% to 0.4 wt%; exposure at 80% RH can raise moisture above 0.6 wt% within 48 h. Bags should therefore not be left open outside a protected hopper. The dryer should be sized for shot weight and cycle time; an airflow rate of 0.5 m³/min per 100 kg/h throughput with a drying hopper residence time of 3 h to 4 h prevents wet pellets from reaching the feed throat. Desiccant beds should be regenerated when the dew point rises above -20 °C, because a compromised bed will not reduce moisture below 0.08 wt% under high-humidity ambient conditions. Regrind should be dried separately if its storage environment is uncontrolled. On injection molding machines with hopper-mounted dryers, a minimum resin bed residence time of 2 h at 80 °C is required before start-up. Failure to maintain closed-loop drying when ambient humidity exceeds 70% RH can produce intermittent splay on textured surfaces and reduce weld-line impact strength. Additive packages containing unneutralized amine-based lubricants are generally avoided because they can promote hydrolysis-like surface defects under high humidity; published data for this specific configuration is limited.
Processing of Dongguang Linda Plastic ABS M3826 begins with a nozzle temperature of 220 °C to 250 °C and a melt temperature measured by air shot of 230 °C to 250 °C. Mold temperatures between 40 °C and 80 °C support gloss development and reduce flow-mark depth; mold temperatures above 80 °C can extend cycle time and increase post-mold shrinkage. Screw back pressure of 0.5 MPa to 1.5 MPa hydraulic and screw rotation surface speed of 0.2 m/s to 0.4 m/s are typical starting parameters for screws of 35 mm to 50 mm diameter with 20:1 L/D. Hold pressure should be set at 50% to 70% of peak injection pressure and maintained until gate freeze. Cavity pressure sensors and short-shot studies are recommended because the grade exhibits shear-thinning behavior; mold-filling analysis should use viscosity coefficients supplied with the batch technical data rather than default generic ABS coefficients.
At hot-runner temperatures above 250 °C, thermal degradation of polybutadiene generates acrid fumes, brown streaks, and a progressive drop in notched impact resistance measured by ISO 179-1:2020. A rise in melt temperature above 260 °C for more than 15 min can produce crosslinked gel particles that appear as unmelts in thin walls. For ABS M3826, the recommended volumetric injection rate is 20 cm³/s to 50 cm³/s for a 2.5 mm wall thickness, with shear rate at the gate not exceeding 50000 s⁻¹. The gate land length should be 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm, and land diameter should be 0.5 to 0.8 times the local wall thickness. On presses with worn check rings, screw recovery time can drift 15% to 25% beyond the supplier baseline before visible melt-temperature variation occurs; replacement of the check ring is indicated when recovery time exceeds the baseline by more than 15%. Clamp force requirement for this grade class is typically 0.45 kN/mm² to 0.70 kN/mm² of projected area, depending on flow length and gate geometry.
Application scenarios for ABS M3826 include electrical appliance housings, vacuum cleaner shrouds, toy structural components, and non-safety automotive interior trim. Dimensional stability is evaluated by ISO 294-4:2018; mold shrinkage for unfilled ABS M3826 class is 0.4% to 0.7% parallel to flow and 0.5% to 0.8% transverse. Wall thickness should be maintained between 1.5 mm and 3.5 mm for uniform packing. Parts with metal inserts require insert preheat temperatures of 80 °C to 100 °C to reduce differential cooling stress. For snap-fit features, allowable outer-fiber strain is typically limited to 2.0% to 2.5% when evaluated by ISO 527-2:2012 at 23 °C; published data for this specific configuration is limited, so prototype testing with production colorant loading should be performed before tool release. The grade is not inherently UV-stabilized; outdoor UV exposure can cause gloss reduction and yellowing unless a UV stabilizer package is added by the converter.
| Material class | Melt flow range | Notched impact at 23 °C | Vicat softening | Primary distinction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ABS M3826 class | 15–30 g/10 min | 15–28 kJ/m² | 95–105 °C | balanced flow and medium impact for general injection |
| High-gloss ABS | 20–40 g/10 min | 10–18 kJ/m² | 92–100 °C | higher gloss, lower low-temperature toughness |
| Extrusion ABS | 5–12 g/10 min | 20–35 kJ/m² | 95–108 °C | high melt strength, low sag, slower cycle |
| PC/ABS blend | 10–20 g/10 min at 260 °C | 35–60 kJ/m² | 110–130 °C | higher heat and impact, higher viscosity and density |
Replacement of a high-flow ABS with M3826 should not be based on melt flow index alone because the spiral flow length at 230 °C and 70 MPa injection pressure can differ by 10% to 20% even when MFR values overlap. The processor should compare pressure drop in the runner, gate freeze time, and gloss panels before tool modification. ABS M3826 is not a direct drop-in for PC/ABS in applications requiring ISO 179-1:2020 notched impact above 30 kJ/m² at -30 °C or heat deflection under 1.8 MPa above 110 °C. Conversely, extrusion ABS should not be replaced by M3826 in blow molding or profile extrusion because the lower melt strength can cause parison sag and dimensional variation.
Chemical resistance of ABS M3826 is acceptable for intermittent contact with dilute aqueous acids, alkalis, and many aliphatic hydrocarbons. Continuous immersion in ketones, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons, or chlorinated solvents causes softening and environmental stress cracking; resistance should be evaluated by ISO 22088-2:2006 or ASTM D543-21 using the service chemical at the maximum operating temperature. Molded stress due to sharp corners and uneven packing can reduce threshold strain for stress cracking below 0.5% in aggressive environments.
Regulatory documentation for ABS M3826 should include a REACH Regulation EC No 1907/2006 Article 33 declaration for substances of very high concern and a RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II screening report. ABS materials are generally expected to be below the heavy-metal restrictions of 100 ppm for cadmium and 1000 ppm for lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium; however batch-specific testing per IEC 62321-5:2013, IEC 62321-4:2013, IEC 62321-6:2015, and IEC 62321-7-2:2017 is required because recycled content or colorants can introduce non-compliant elements. The grade is not automatically food-contact compliant; an FDA 21 CFR 177.1020 suitability letter is required for the exact grade and all additives before use in food-contact applications.
Flammability classification of natural ABS M3826 is typically UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm; V-0 performance is not implied and must be tested according to UL 94:2023 at the final thickness and color. If thin-wall electrical enclosures require V-0 at 0.8 mm, a flame-retardant ABS grade or PC/ABS blend should be selected instead of relying on this general-purpose grade.
Incoming resin should be sampled per ISO 1133-1:2022 after drying; a deviation of melt volume-flow rate greater than ±8% from the certificate of analysis should trigger a homogenization trial before full lot use. Molded part density measurements per ISO 1183-1:2019 can detect internal voids when values fall below the expected range by more than 0.02 g/cm³. For tensile and impact verification, specimens should be conditioned at 23 °C and 50% RH for at least 16 h before testing according to ISO 527-2:2012 and ISO 179-1:2020. For ultrasonic welding of ABS M3826, near-field welding at 20 kHz with amplitude of 20 µm to 30 µm and pressure of 0.2 MPa to 0.4 MPa is typical for flat energy directors; weld strength should be verified by tensile pull testing on production-colorant parts because the presence of pigment can alter energy transmission.
