Dongguan Zhongen PC/ABS 6414-111 enters the electric vehicle wallbox enclosure application as a neat pelletized alloy, not as a masterbatch or compounded additive carrier. For fixed AC charging equipment, the enclosure material is evaluated under IEC 61851-1:2017 and UL 2594; acceptance criteria include creepage and clearance stability after thermal cycling and impact, not merely initial dimensional measurement. Flammability is verified at UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm; outdoor and large-surface panels are further tested to UL 94 5VA at 2.5 mm. Polymeric barriers subjected to weather are qualified under UL 746C, with UV and water-exposure tests; published data for this specific 6414-111 configuration under UL 746C f1-rated outdoor aging is limited, and production-tool plaques must be tested before tool release. Formulation addition: 100 parts by weight PC/ABS 6414-111; 0.2–0.5 phr non-blooming mold release; 1–2 wt% heat- and UV-stabilized color masterbatch; post-industrial regrind cap 20 wt% for indoor components but zero for outdoor covers unless f1-rated retention is demonstrated. Melt volume rate is measured at 260°C/5 kg per ISO 1133-1:2022; typical wallbox covers require 15–25 cm³/10 min to avoid short shots in multi-drop tools. Drying uses a desiccant-bed dryer at 80–95°C for 3–4 h to <0.02 wt% moisture, with hopper receiver dew point -30°C or lower. Barrel zones are set 230/245/260/260/255°C; melt temperature is held at 250–270°C. Mold temperature is controlled at 70–90°C. Velocity-to-pressure switch-over occurs at 95–98% of shot volume; holding pressure is 60–80 MPa for 4–8 s. Residence time is kept below 8 min. Terminal products: AC wallbox front and rear shells, DC charging station front covers, charging connector housings, internal electrical spacers, and relay brackets.
Medical housing applications for PC/ABS 6414-111 concentrate on non-patient-contact electrical equipment enclosures where disinfection resistance, dimensional stability, and cost-competitiveness relative to unfilled polycarbonate are decisive. Cytotoxicity is tested under ISO 10993-5:2009 and skin sensitization/irritation under ISO 10993-10:2010 after representative cleaning; these tests are configuration-specific and must be repeated after any change in color masterbatch or mold release. Electrical safety is anchored to IEC 60601-1; flammability for power-entry sections is UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm. Addition ratio: 100 wt PC/ABS 6414-111; 0.5–1.5 wt% biocompatibility-suitable color masterbatch; mold release limited to <0.2 wt% non-silicone ester; regrind is excluded unless ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10 responses are revalidated on finished parts. Drying is performed at 90–100°C for 4 h to <0.02 wt% moisture. Melt temperature is set at 240–270°C, mold temperature at 60–80°C. The production process uses sequential valve gating with 2–4 drops and a cleanroom environment at ISO 14644-1 Class 8 or better. Validation criteria may include retained notched Izod impact not less than 75% under ASTM D256-10 after 50 cycles of 70% isopropanol wipes and quaternary ammonium disinfection; published data for this specific 6414-111 configuration under repeated disinfection is limited, so production-tool validation is required. Terminal products: diagnostic ultrasound console shells, patient monitor front and rear housings, infusion pump enclosures, medical cart battery compartments, and laboratory instrument covers.

| Automotive interior structural | FMVSS 302, ISO 3795 | Burn rate <100 mm/min | VDA 277, DIN 75201-B |
| Power tool housing | IEC 62841-1 | UL 94 HB or UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm | IEC 60695-2-11 750°C |
| Telecom access point | IEC 62368-1 | UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm | IEC 60695-2-11 750°C |
| Industrial control panel | UL 508A, IEC 61439-1 | UL 94 V-0 at 2.0 mm | IEC 60112, ASTM D648-16 |
For automotive interior structural retainers, PC/ABS 6414-111 is processed only after desiccant drying to <0.02 wt% moisture; residual moisture above this threshold produces silver streaking in thin-wall console side panels and lowers molecular weight at the melt front. Acceptance in this segment is determined by FMVSS 302 and ISO 3795 horizontal burn rates, with typical pass values below 100 mm/min; interior emissions and fogging are measured under VDA 277 and DIN 75201-B using plaques that include the production grain orientation. Addition ratio: 100 wt PC/ABS 6414-111; 1–2 wt% UV-stabilized color masterbatch; 20–25 wt% reprocessed sprues and runners, but only after a three-heat-cycle retention of elongation at break under ASTM D638-14. Injection molding uses a 40–70 mm screw diameter, 20:1–25:1 L/D, and barrel profile 235/250/260/265/260°C; measured melt temperature is 255–280°C. Mold temperature is held at 60–80°C. To reduce ghost marks on visible grained surfaces, 3–4 valve-gated drops are used, and cavity pressure at switch-over is 50–70 MPa; hold time is 5–8 s to gate seal. Chemical foaming is not advised for this grade in this segment because the resulting skin layer can exhibit reduced mar resistance. Terminal products: instrument panel lower retainers, glove box bins and lids, center console side panels, knee bolster carriers, seat side trim, and steering column covers.
In power tool clamshell construction, the polymer must provide double-insulation integrity and impact resistance after repeated drop protocols. PC/ABS 6414-111 is used as the structural shell material, with compliance evaluated under IEC 62841-1; creepage distance and clearance values are determined by pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category II. Flammability is usually UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm, but battery packs and mains-connected sections may require UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm; glow-wire testing at 750°C per IEC 60695-2-11 applies to housings near couplers. Addition ratio: 100 wt PC/ABS 6414-111; 0.3–0.5 wt% internal mold release; 1–3 wt% pigment masterbatch; regrind is allowed at 25–30 wt% only after retention of notched Izod impact under ASTM D256-10 and tensile elongation under ASTM D638-14. Drying is performed at 80–90°C for 3–4 h; melt temperature is 255–280°C; mold temperature is 50–70°C. Deep rib-to-boss flow length ratio can exceed 180:1 in thin-wall sections; fill speed is therefore set high at 180–250 mm/s, injection pressure at screw tip is 120–160 MPa, and holding pressure is 60–80 MPa for 2–4 s. Terminal products: drill/driver clamshell housings, angle grinder motor housing covers, reciprocating saw gear housings, battery pack shells, and attachment tool bases.

For indoor Wi-Fi access point and 5G small-cell enclosures, PC/ABS 6414-111 is specified where the polymer must remain signal-transparent in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and must not contain conductive carbon black or metallic flake. Electrical safety compliance is evaluated under IEC 62368-1; fire enclosure acceptance is UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm around power-over-Ethernet magnetics, and glow-wire ignition temperature is tested at 750°C per IEC 60695-2-11. Addition ratio: 100 wt PC/ABS 6414-111; 0.5–1.5 wt% non-conductive color masterbatch; regrind limit 10 wt% because higher recycled content can shift loss tangent and increase surface roughness on large visible radomes. Drying is carried out at 80–90°C for 3–4 h to <0.02 wt% moisture. Melt temperature is 250–270°C, mold temperature 70–90°C. Thin-wall covers of 1.2–1.8 mm nominal thickness are filled via sequential valve gating with 4–6 valve pins and hot-runner manifold temperature 265°C; switch-over is set at 98% of shot volume. Grade-specific dissipation factor data over frequency is not uniformly published; RF transparency must be verified with near-field probing. Terminal products: Wi-Fi access point housings, 5G small-cell radomes, optical network terminal boxes, router top and bottom shells, and antenna bracket covers.
Industrial control panel housings molded from PC/ABS 6414-111 are designed for continuous operating temperatures up to 80°C with short-term excursions to 100°C. Compliance with UL 508A and IEC 61439-1 limits glowing-wire flammability and tracking resistance. Flammability is rated UL 94 V-0 at 2.0 mm for live-component enclosures; comparative tracking index is measured under IEC 60112 and should exceed 175 V. Heat deflection temperature under 1.82 MPa is determined by ASTM D648-16; unfilled flame-retardant PC/ABS alloys typically fall below 110°C, so load-bearing bosses must be shielded from direct metal heat sources. Addition ratio: 100 wt PC/ABS 6414-111; 0.5–1.0 wt% carbon-black masterbatch only in non-current-carrying sections; 20 wt% maximum regrind if dimensional stability and flame rating are re-qualified. Drying is performed at 90–100°C for 4 h; melt temperature is 250–270°C; mold temperature is 70–90°C. Molding uses a two-stage injection speed profile: slow initial fill through the mating side, then medium speed 70–120 mm/s through the base to reduce gas entrapment at standoffs. Grounding continuity is maintained with molded-in brass inserts with pull-out force not less than 500 N; boss diameter is at least 2.5 times insert outer diameter to prevent crack initiation. Terminal products: PLC controller housings, HMI display enclosures, DIN-rail module bodies, terminal block covers, and industrial computer front panels.

Dongguan Zhongen PC/ABS 6414-111 is an unfilled, general-purpose polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene alloy supplied as pelletized compound for injection molding. The designation 6414-111 identifies a mid-flow member of the producer’s PC/ABS range, in which the polycarbonate phase contributes heat deformation resistance, notch sensitivity control, and dimensional stability, while the ABS component lowers melt viscosity and improves melt-front knitting in complex tools. Because the producer’s published lot-level datasheet was not available in the reference set used for this document, the values in the following table are compiled from representative unfilled 60:40 PC/ABS injection-molding classes and shall not supersede a certificate of analysis for the specific lot. Test specimens are conditioned at 23 °C and 50 % relative humidity under ISO 291.

This property envelope places 6414-111 in the general-purpose electronics-housing segment rather than the high-heat automotive interior segment. The moisture uptake is lower than that of unfilled polyamide, but hydrolysis control during processing remains critical because polycarbonate molecular weight degrades rapidly in the presence of water above 120 °C.
At 23 °C, the notched Izod response is largely ductile; the test records a peak load followed by stable crack propagation across the PC phase. At −30 °C, the notched Izod value falls to 8–15 kJ/m² under ISO 180/A, indicating a shift toward brittle fracture in the ABS domains. This transition is determined not only by the polycarbonate glass transition near 145 °C but also by the graft rubber particle size distribution and the polybutadiene glass transition temperature, which may lie between −80 °C and −60 °C. Weld lines magnify the loss: an unreinforced part with a single cold weld line can lose 40 %–60 % of its unnotched impact strength under the same conditioning because the two frozen fronts do not create significant chain diffusion across the interface.
Environmental stress cracking resistance is similarly phase-dependent. Exposure to cyclohexane, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, or high-solvency brake fluids reduces the critical strain for craze initiation in the polycarbonate phase. Snap-fit deflection should be limited to 0.8 % outer-fiber strain when such fluids are present in the service environment. Validation of molded parts should follow ISO 22088-2 for constant-strain exposure to the specific chemical at the intended use temperature.
Desiccant drying to a residual moisture content below 0.02 % is required before injection molding. The dryer must deliver a dew point of −40 °C or lower at the hopper inlet. Typical drying conditions are 80 °C to 100 °C for 3 h to 4 h at full hopper airflow; at relative humidity above 60 %, the residence time should extend to 6 h. The use of hot-air tray dryers is insufficient for PC/ABS because equilibrium moisture remains above the hydrolysis threshold.
On a reciprocating-screw injection molding machine, a general-purpose screw with an L/D ratio of 20:1 to 24:1 and compression ratio 2.0–2.5:1 is acceptable. Set a reverse temperature profile, with rear zone at 230 °C–250 °C, center zones at 250 °C–270 °C, and nozzle at 260 °C–280 °C. Melt temperature measured at the nozzle should not exceed 290 °C; total barrel residence time above 260 °C should be kept below 6 min to avoid polycarbonate chain scission and yellowing. Mold temperature is normally 60 °C–90 °C; for high-gloss unpainted surfaces, the upper end of this range is mandatory because mold surface replication is controlled by the rate of cooling through the polycarbonate glass transition.
Injection velocity should be profiled to maintain a flow-front velocity of 100–250 mm/s in thin-wall sections. Hold pressure should be 40 %–60 % of peak injection pressure for 5–10 s, followed by a cooling time determined by the square of wall thickness. For a 2 mm wall, cooling time typically falls between 12 s and 18 s with a 70 °C mold. Clamp force requirements can be estimated from the projected area and an effective cavity pressure of 35–45 MPa; a 500 cm² projected area requires approximately 1750–2250 kN clamp, excluding stack mold or valve-gate pressure losses.
Regrind incorporation is allowed only after verification of pellet size uniformity and moisture content. At 20 wt% regrind, the melt flow shift is typically below 5 %; above 30 wt%, notch sensitivity increases and color shift becomes measurable. For technical parts requiring UL 94 listing, regrind shall not exceed the concentration allowed by the UL Yellow Card procedure.
Unpainted PC/ABS surfaces are often acceptable for internal structural brackets, but painted exterior covers require a surface free energy above 38 mN/m after cleaning. Mold-release additives such as stearate-based or silicone-based external release agents can depress paint adhesion below 1.5 MPa in cross-cut or pull-off tests. For 6414-111 class material, initial paint adhesion values of 1.8–2.5 MPa can be obtained after isopropanol wipe and atmospheric plasma treatment at 100 W·min/m², but the actual value depends on primer chemistry. This is not unique to the grade but is more critical in mid-flow PC/ABS because lower melt viscosity can increase surface migration of low-molecular-weight additives.
In a thin-wall router housing with nominal wall 1.8 mm, filling pressure at the end of fill is reduced by the mid-flow melt viscosity relative to high-heat grades, allowing use of smaller hot-runner tips and lower injection pressure. The compromise is a heat deflection temperature ceiling of approximately 112 °C, which excludes unpainted parts in instrument panel top surfaces requiring short-term exposure to 120 °C air.
| Processing/performance variable | 6414-111 class, mid-flow | High-flow PC/ABS | High-heat PC/ABS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melt volume-flow rate, 260 °C/5 kg | 18–24 cm³/10 min | 28–38 cm³/10 min | 6–12 cm³/10 min |
| Heat deflection temperature, 1.8 MPa | 105–112 °C | 95–102 °C | 118–128 °C |
| Room-temperature notched Izod | 35–50 kJ/m² | 20–35 kJ/m² | 45–60 kJ/m² |
| Thin-wall flow length ratio, 2 mm spiral | 1.0, baseline | 1.3–1.5 | 0.6–0.8 |
| Mold surface gloss at 60° GU | 80–90 GU | 75–85 GU | 85–95 GU |
Compared with high-flow PC/ABS, 6414-111 retains a wider notched impact window and a higher heat deflection temperature, but requires higher injection pressure and a longer packing phase in thin sections. Compared with high-heat PC/ABS, it sacrifices approximately 15 °C–20 °C of heat deflection temperature in exchange for better fill behavior and lower shear heating in hot-runner systems.
In electrical enclosures and power-distribution housings, the grade can serve where low-temperature drop impact is not the primary design load and where the enclosure wall thickness remains between 1.5 mm and 3.0 mm. Dimensional stability after molding is governed by post-mold shrinkage and moisture uptake; for precision fits, a post-mold conditioning period of 24 h at 23 °C/50 % RH is recommended before critical dimension verification.
The material is not inherently flame-retardant. Applications requiring UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm should not use 6414-111; the unfilled non-FR class carries a UL 94 HB rating at 3.0 mm in representative testing. For electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU, lot-level documentation should confirm compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by (EU) 2015/863 and with the 0.1 % weight threshold for SVHCs under Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.
Continuous hot-water contact above 70 °C is outside the intended use envelope because hydrolytic degradation of polycarbonate accelerates. Contact with ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, strong alkalis, and amine-based additives should be avoided; these agents can induce environmental stress cracking in molded parts. For applications involving UV exposure, a UV-stabilized masterbatch or an approved coating system is required because the unfilled base resin is not inherently weather-resistant.
