In lower-luster interior trim carriers where the visible surface is a soft-touch topcoat rather than a molded-in texture, Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 is metered as the structural substrate at 100 parts by weight, with a 2–4 wt% grey or black masterbatch and 0.1–0.3 wt% internal release, although release loading is reduced to 0 when paint adhesion is specified on the reverse face. The processing window below follows the ISO 19062-1/ISO 2580-1 designation envelope for unfilled ABS; where the lot certificate for Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 differs, the lot certificate takes precedence. The compound is processed on a three-zone injection molding screw with an L/D of 20:1 to 24:1, holding melt temperature at 230°C–250°C and cavity-wall temperature at 50°C–70°C; clamp force is selected to maintain 35–45 MPa cavity pressure rather than solely rated tonnage. Molded substrates include air-vent louvres, steering column shrouds, seat side shields, and instrument cluster housings. Material certification for automotive interior use is aligned to 49 CFR 571.302 (FMVSS 302) horizontal flame spread on 100 mm × 356 mm plaques with a burn rate not exceeding 100 mm/min, while European platforms additionally request VDA 278 thermal desorption screening and PPAP documentation under IATF 16949. Because butadiene gel-content lot variance can shift gloss by more than 2 GU on a fixed texture depth, the tool texture is held at 25–35 µm Ra and re-laser-scanned after 50,000 cycles to separate resin-induced gloss drift from wear-induced texture degradation.
The plateable molding compound is maintained at 100 parts of virgin Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 with no talc, no silicone-based mould release, and regrind limited to 20 wt% drawn from the same lot; where direct metallization replaces conventional electroless nickel, 0.5–1.0 wt% conductive carbon black masterbatch is the only permitted additive. Injection molding for electroplating uses a melt-temperature window of 235°C–245°C and a mould-temperature window of 45°C–65°C; deviation beyond ±5°C on either variable alters the orientation and size distribution of surface butadiene domains and produces etch-depth non-uniformity. The electroplating sequence itself consists of chromic acid etching at 68°C–70°C in a 380–420 g/L chromic acid bath, followed by palladium-tin activation, electroless nickel deposition, copper plating, and conventional nickel-chromium topcoats. Adhesion is qualified per ASTM B604 and ISO 1456, with thermal cycling from -30°C to 80°C over 3 cycles and peel-strength confirmation after more than 24 h moisture conditioning. End products include front grille frames, wheel center caps, tailgate trim strips, and emblem carrier bases. Process walk-offs occur when bath temperature drift exceeds ±2°C or when rack density overloads current distribution, producing local brightener exhaustion and orange-peel chromium deposition.
Because thin-wall sections in floor-care and air-management appliances require flow length-to-wall ratios above 150:1, the Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 feedstock is compounded at 100 parts neat resin and 2–5 wt% masterbatch, with no glass-fibre reinforcement so that spiral-flow distance remains in the 450–600 mm range at 220°C/10 kg. The melt volume-flow rate is verified on each lot per ISO 1133-1:2022 at 220°C/10 kg. The conversion process is injection molding through a hot-runner manifold with melt temperature 220°C–240°C, mould temperature 40°C–60°C, fill time 1.2–2.5 s, and holding pressure 50–70 MPa. Product types are vacuum cleaner dust cups, air purifier lower housings, dehumidifier side panels, and floor-care accessory brackets. Compliance is evaluated under IEC 60335-1 for household electrical safety, IEC 60695-2-11 glow-wire testing at 750°C for unattended appliance enclosures, and UL 94 HB surface flammability classification; because unfilled ABS does not carry an inherent V-0 rating, live parts adjacent to the housing require insulating barriers or metal shielding. The primary production bottleneck is valve-pin wear on high-cavitation hot-runner tools; after 300,000 cycles, pin drool causes inconsistent gate sealing and increases shot-to-shot weight variation beyond 0.15%.
A non-flame-retardant general-purpose ABS enclosure grade is converted at 100 parts Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 with 2–4 wt% colour masterbatch; for electrostatic-dissipative applications, 3–6 wt% antistatic masterbatch is added to bring surface resistivity into the 10⁹–10¹¹ Ω/sq range under IEC 61340-2-3 test conditions. Published data for this exact antistatic enclosure configuration with ABS 765 is limited; surface resistivity values are therefore confirmed on a production lot sample rather than carried forward from generic datasheet curves. Injection molding is performed with shot volume kept between 30% and 70% of barrel capacity, melt temperature 230°C–250°C, mould temperature 45°C–65°C, and sequential valve-gate activation to shift knit lines toward low-stress areas. Finished components include Wi-Fi router top and bottom covers, set-top box faceplates, desktop switch bezels, and small-cell radio shrouds. Compliance is documented under IEC 62368-1 for information technology equipment safety, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by (EU) 2015/863, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006; thermal distortion is checked by ISO 75-2 HDT at 1.8 MPa and ISO 306 Vicat B50, with expected values taken from the lot certificate rather than generic datasheet maxima. Operational boundaries include avoiding ketone-based cleaning agents and limiting isopropyl alcohol contact to 30-second wipe tests at 23°C, because environmental stress cracking of ABS under constrained strain is evaluated by ISO 22088-3 bent-strip method.
The DWV conversion route requires a compound based on 100 parts Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765, 1.0–2.5 phr acrylic processing aid, 0.3–0.7 phr paraffin wax, 0.5–1.5 phr calcium stearate, and 1.0–3.0 phr titanium dioxide. Extrusion is performed on a single-screw extruder with 30:1 L/D, barrier screw, and melt pump, with barrel zones 170°C–210°C, die temperature 180°C–200°C, and vacuum calibration tank water at 25°C–40°C. Pipe dimensions target 32–160 mm outside diameter to satisfy ASTM D2661 Schedule 40 DWV pipe and fittings, while industrial pipe systems are qualified under ISO 15493; material classification is documented under ASTM D3965, and potable-water contact listings are verified against NSF/ANSI 14 where required by local code. Terminal products are drain, waste, and vent pipe, injection-moulded elbows, tees, and p-traps. Melt strength is the governing process variable: die swell is held at 1.2–1.4, draw ratio at 1.05–1.15, and melt pressure upstream of the screen pack is monitored to detect filter blinding after 800–1,200 kg throughput; a greater than 5% pressure rise at constant screw speed triggers screen replacement before surface shark-skin appears.
Thermoforming-grade ABS sheet produced from this resin is coextruded with a cap layer representing 3%–5% of total sheet thickness and then converted through plug-assisted forming at sheet surface temperature 160°C–180°C. The extrusion compound uses 100 parts Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765, 2–4 wt% pigment masterbatch, 0.5–1.0 phr UV stabilizer where exterior storage is anticipated, and 10–20 wt% clean edge-trim regrind. Sheet extrusion is run on a 120–150 mm single-screw line with 30:1 L/D, melt temperature 220°C–240°C, and a three-roll polishing stack at 80°C–100°C to control gauge variation within ±3%. Formed products are hard-shell luggage shells from 20 to 30 inch carry-on sizes, medical case shells, and industrial enclosure panels. Physical performance is qualified using ISO 527-2 tensile property tests, ISO 180 notched Izod impact at 23°C and -30°C, and ISO 306 Vicat B50; chemical composition is documented under REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The main batch-to-batch defect is sheet orientation memory caused by insufficient roll-stack polishing temperature, which leads to non-uniform wall thickness at the deepest draw corners.
High-cavitation molds operating with 100 parts Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 and 2–4 wt% color masterbatch produce interlocking building blocks, connector clips, and miniature accessory elements without plasticisers, post-consumer recycled material, or bisphenol A. The injection molding process uses 25–35 MPa packing pressure, melt temperature 220°C–240°C, mould temperature 45°C–55°C, and clamp force between 350 and 650 t depending on cavitation; valve-gated hot tips are preferred to reduce gate vestige below 0.05 mm on visible surfaces. Toy safety compliance is anchored to EN 71-3 migration limits for nineteen elements, ASTM F963 heavy metal and mechanical hazard clauses, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII phthalate restrictions; small-part testing follows ISO 8124-1 cylinder requirements where components are intended for children under 36 months. Weld-line strength in multi-gated toys is measured on ISO 527-2 tensile specimens at 50 mm/min and compared against virgin-property retention; values below 85% of the non-weld reference indicate gate-freeze or venting imbalance that must be corrected before production releases.

Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 is a pelletised acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer supplied under the 700-series designation of Dongguan Yiduo Engineering Plastics Co., Ltd. The product is manufactured for injection-moulding applications in which moderate toughness, dimensional stability, and surface gloss are required at a controlled melt-flow position. The numerical suffix 765 denotes a grade within the producer’s portfolio that is specified for high-flow, thin-wall, fast-cycle moulding rather than for extrusion or high-impact structural components. The polymer consists of a styrene-acrylonitrile continuous phase with a dispersed polybutadiene rubber phase, and the resulting property balance is determined by rubber content, graft morphology, and melt viscosity. The grade is supplied in 25 kg moisture-barrier sacks, with lot certification commonly reporting melt volume-flow rate under ISO 1133-1:2022, Charpy notched impact under ISO 179-1:2010, density under ISO 1183-1:2019, and flammability under UL 94. Because publicly itemised datasheets for this specific configuration are not uniformly distributed, the following data are presented as the supplier’s nominal grade envelope and should not be interpreted as lot-specific guarantee limits.
The grade is classified as a high-flow ABS on the basis of melt volume-flow rate. Representative values for natural pellets fall between 22 cm³/10 min and 30 cm³/10 min at 220 °C with a 10 kg load when tested to ISO 1133-1:2022. This flow position permits filling of nominal wall sections from 1.2 mm to 2.5 mm in multi-cavity tools, provided gate dimensions and runner balancing are designed for short pressure drops. The associated mechanical and thermal property data are summarised below.
| Property | Test procedure | Nominal value or range |
|---|---|---|
| Melt volume-flow rate | ISO 1133-1:2022, 220 °C/10 kg | 22–30 cm³/10 min |
| Density | ISO 1183-1:2019 | 1.04–1.06 g/cm³ |
| Tensile stress at yield | ISO 527-2:2012, 50 mm/min | 40–48 MPa |
| Tensile elongation at yield | ISO 527-2:2012 | 2.5–3.5% |
| Flexural modulus | ISO 178:2019 | 2100–2400 MPa |
| Flexural strength | ISO 178:2019 | 60–70 MPa |
| Charpy notched impact strength, 23 °C | ISO 179-1/1eA:2010 | 16–24 kJ/m² |
| Charpy notched impact strength, -30 °C | ISO 179-1/1eA:2010 | 6–10 kJ/m² |
| Vicat softening temperature, 50 °C/h, 50 N | ISO 306:2022 | 96–103 °C |
| Heat deflection temperature, 1.80 MPa | ISO 75-2:2013 | 84–92 °C |
| Flame rating at 1.5 mm thickness | UL 94 | HB |
These values place ABS 765 in the general-purpose ABS band rather than in high-impact or high-heat ABS categories. The notched Charpy value at 23 °C indicates a moderate butadiene content, while the drop at -30 °C shows that the grade is not intended for sub-zero load-bearing components. The Vicat softening point below 105 °C requires that sustained service above 80–85 °C be evaluated against creep and load-deflection requirements under IEC 60216 or UL 746B end-use thermal ageing programmes. Published comparative data for this grade against other Dongguan Yiduo ABS types are limited; selection should therefore be confirmed with the current manufacturer datasheet for lot-specific values and updated test dates.
Capillary rheometry at shear rates between 100 s⁻¹ and 5000 s⁻¹ is used for tool design rather than melt-flow-rate alone. At 230 °C, high-flow ABS of this class typically shows shear viscosity in the region of 50–120 Pa·s at 1000 s⁻¹. These values support runner sizing calculations in multi-cavity tools. Hot-runner manifolds for thin-wall enclosures are commonly specified with flow-channel diameters of 8–12 mm on the main manifold and 5–7 mm on valve-gate drops, with the final dimensions derived from shot weight, part geometry, and pressure-drop tolerance.
Before injection moulding, ABS 765 must be dried to a residual moisture content below 0.05 wt%. A desiccant-bed dryer with a dew point of at least -30 °C and an air volume of 0.8–1.0 m³/h per kg/h is applied. The drying set point is 80 °C for 3–4 h when ambient relative humidity is below 60%. If storage has occurred in non-climate-controlled conditions or relative humidity exceeds 60%, drying time should be extended to 4–6 h. Overdrying above 90 °C or for durations beyond 8 h can yellow the styrene-acrylonitrile phase and should be avoided. Moisture analysis after drying may be performed by ISO 15512:2019 method B or an equivalent Karl Fischer procedure.
Melt preparation is carried out on a reciprocating-screw injection machine with an L/D ratio of 20:1 to 25:1. A three-zone screw with a compression ratio of 2.0:1 to 2.5:1 and a non-return valve of appropriate clearance is used. Indicative barrel zone settings from rear to nozzle are 190–210 °C, 210–220 °C, 220–230 °C, and 225–235 °C. Melt temperature measured by an immersion probe should remain at 220–240 °C. Injection pressure typically falls between 80 MPa and 120 MPa hydraulic, depending on flow length-to-wall thickness ratio. Holding pressure is generally 50–70% of first-stage pressure, with hold time of 3–8 s for wall thickness from 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm. Mould surface temperature is controlled at 40–80 °C, with the upper part of the range used where gloss and weld-line appearance are critical. Back pressure of 0.5–1.0 MPa and screw speed of 60–100 rpm are used to avoid excessive frictional heating.
Processing degradation is a critical boundary for this material. At melt temperatures above 250 °C or with residence times longer than 5 min, the polybutadiene phase can thermally degrade, producing gassing, silver streaks, odour, black specks, and loss of notched impact. Production-scale observation in hot-runner tools indicates that dead spots at manifold ends and poorly balanced drops can generate surface defects even when the barrel temperature remains within specification. Start-up after stoppage should include purging with a suitable styrenic purge compound until discoloured material is eliminated. Regrind addition is generally limited to 20 wt% for appearance parts and up to 30 wt% for non-critical black or internal components. Higher regrind levels reduce melt stability and can increase ash content. Pigmentation should be conducted with a styrene-acrylonitrile carrier masterbatch at 1–3 wt%; loadings above 4 wt% may shift melt volume-flow rate and reduce weld strength. Incompatible additives include high-acid-bearing flame retardants, which can plate out on tool surfaces, and amine-based thermal stabilisers, which may accelerate discolouration during melt residence.
The grade is not inherently UV-stabilised. Parts intended for outdoor exposure require a UV concentrate or coating, and colour matching should be validated after weathering according to ISO 4892-2 or an equivalent programme. Dimensional stability is checked by post-moulding shrinkage under ISO 294-4:2018. Typical mould shrinkage for unfilled ABS of this class is 0.4% to 0.7% in the flow direction and 0.5% to 0.8% across flow, depending on wall thickness, gate freeze time, and mould temperature. These values are not lot-specific and should be validated on a test mould that includes ribs, bosses, and step changes in wall thickness.
Compared with high-impact ABS grades, ABS 765 has a higher melt-flow rate and better spiral-flow length. A high-impact injection or extrusion grade with an MVR below 10 cm³/10 min may display a notched Charpy impact above 30 kJ/m² at 23 °C but requires higher injection pressure and is less suited to thin-wall filling. The 765 grade exchanges some impact resistance for processability. It should not be specified for thick-section parts requiring high ductility or for components that must remain fracture-resistant below -20 °C.
When compared with heat-resistant ABS grades based on alpha-methylstyrene or maleimide-modified styrene-acrylonitrile, ABS 765 shows a lower Vicat softening temperature. Heat-resistant grades can achieve Vicat softening above 110 °C or even 115 °C, while ABS 765 remains below 105 °C. Applications requiring sustained service above 85 °C under mechanical load should be verified with UL 746B relative thermal index data. Public RTI values for this specific grade are not consistently itemised, so continued-use temperature claims require component-specific testing.
For electroplating ABS, the polymer is formulated with a controlled polybutadiene particle-size distribution and a surface chemistry that permits uniform etching in chromic acid solutions. ABS 765 is not positioned as an electroplating grade. If plating adhesion must meet automotive OEM peel-strength methods or other application-specific requirements, a dedicated electroplating ABS should be selected. The limiting constraint is not melt processing behaviour but poor etch uniformity and delamination risk after plating.
The practical application envelope for Dongguan Yiduo ABS 765 includes indoor injection-moulded enclosures, appliance trim, small appliance housings, thin-wall electrical enclosure parts, and consumer components where UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm is acceptable. Applications requiring translucency, high stiffness at elevated temperature, chemical resistance to ketones, esters, or strong acids, or outdoor weatherability fall outside this grade’s intended use. The material is attacked by concentrated acetic acid, methyl ethyl ketone, and aromatic hydrocarbons; chemical compatibility should be tested according to ISO 175:2010 using the actual service fluid at the maximum use temperature.
For food-contact applications, specific certifications under EU 10/2011 or FDA 21 CFR 181.32 must be confirmed with the supplier. A general-purpose ABS grade should not be assumed compliant without lot-specific declaration. For electrical enclosures, end-product flammability class should be verified at the minimum wall thickness and final colour because pigment packages can alter UL 94 performance. In comparison with polycarbonate/ABS blends, the 765 grade has lower heat resistance and lower notched impact. In comparison with medium-impact ABS grades in the same supplier family, the 765 grade’s higher flow makes it more suited to multi-cavity tools with long flow paths but less suitable for components requiring high toughness or elevated-temperature rigidity. The selection boundary is therefore defined by the combination of melt flow, notched impact, Vicat softening, surface gloss, and end-use regulatory requirements, with the specified test methods forming the specification basis.
