In low-voltage installation equipment produced in high-volume injection molding lines, Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 is used for modular enclosure components that require creepage distance retention, impact resistance at service temperatures between −20°C and 60°C, and a UL 94 V-0 rating at wall thicknesses not less than 1.5 mm. The compound is processed at 100 wt% virgin pellet feed on reciprocating-screw injection molding machines having a barrier screw with L/D 20:1 to 24:1 and compression ratio 2.0:1 to 2.5:1; addition of closed-loop sprues and runners is limited to 15 wt% because repeated plastication of the flame-retardant package reduces notched impact energy and can shift UL 94 performance from V-0 to V-2 at the same wall section. Color masterbatch dosage is maintained between 0.5 wt% and 1.0 wt%, and only polycarbonate-compatible carriers are permitted; addition of styrenic carrier masterbatch above 1.0 wt% has been observed on production floors to produce gate blush on textured surfaces. Drying before molding is performed in a desiccant dryer at 80°C for 3 to 4 hours until residual moisture is below 0.02%; if dew point rises above −30°C, polycarbonate hydrolysis generates silver streaking and reduces the melt strength required for long-flow distribution box bases. Barrel temperature profile is set at 240°C rear, 250°C center, 255°C front, and 250°C nozzle; melt temperature measured by pyrometer should remain between 240°C and 260°C, and residence time should not exceed 8 minutes at shot weights below 30% of barrel capacity to prevent brominated-flame-retardant degradation that appears as brown streaks. Mold temperature is set between 60°C and 80°C; injection pressure is maintained between 80 MPa and 110 MPa, with packing pressure between 60 MPa and 80 MPa for 4 to 6 seconds and back pressure between 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa to avoid jetting and weld-line weakening at boss locations. Compliance for finished goods is established under IEC 60670-1 for boxes and enclosures, IEC 62208 for empty enclosures, IEC 61439-1 for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, and IEC 60695-2-11 for glow-wire testing; parts at 1.5 mm are typically specified to achieve 850°C GWIT with no ignition or flame persistence longer than 5 seconds, but this must be confirmed on the final molded geometry because GWIT varies with thickness, ventilation openings, and metal insert heat sinking. Finished product types include surface-mounted wall boxes, flush-mounted back boxes, DIN-rail enclosure shells, miniature circuit breaker front covers, busbar terminal shrouds, and junction-box lids. Stress-cracking incompatibilities exist with ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, and certain amine-cured epoxies, so post-mold cleaning solvents and gasketing adhesives must be validated before series production.
For electric vehicle supply equipment components such as charging plug shells, vehicle inlets, charge controller card enclosures, and socket front plates, Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 is processed in both single-cavity and hot-runner multi-cavity molds where dimensional stability after thermal cycling is governed by IEC 61851-1:2017 and IEC 62196-2:2022 interface dimensions. The formulation is run at 100 wt% virgin material with closed-loop regrind limited to a maximum of 10 wt% because the outdoor-use UV stabilizers and flame-retardant system in the compound are degraded by one additional heat history; no post-consumer recyclate is permitted when parts are to be listed under UL 2594 or when glow-wire performance to IEC 60695-2-11 at 850°C is part of the end-product certification. Color masterbatch or UV concentrate addition is restricted to 0.8 wt%–1.5 wt%, and only carriers based on polycarbonate or styrene-acrylonitrile are used; polyolefin-based masterbatches are excluded because they form visible delamination at gate areas and reduce UL 94 V-0 performance at 1.5 mm. Drying is performed at 80°C for 4 hours in a desiccant dryer with a dew point of −35°C or lower; maximum residual moisture before melt processing is 0.02%, measured by a calibrated moisture analyzer. Injection molding line behavior on 250-tonne to 350-tonne machines shows that the critical process conflict occurs at latch ribs and contact-pin support bosses, where converging melt fronts carry flame-retardant decomposition products to the weld line; single large-edge gating or a sequential valve gate with no more than three drop points is used to prevent multiple flow fronts. Melt temperature is maintained at 245°C to 260°C, with the nozzle at 255°C and hot-runner manifold temperature not exceeding 270°C; excursions above 275°C for more than 3 minutes cause visible brown streaking and a drop in Izod impact energy measured by ISO 179-1/1eA. Mold temperature is controlled at 70°C to 80°C using pressurized water; injection speed is set from 80 mm/s to 150 mm/s, and packing pressure is held at 65 MPa to 85 MPa for 5 to 8 seconds. Screw rotation speed is kept low at 40 rpm–60 rpm with back pressure of 0.4 MPa–0.8 MPa to reduce frictional heat. Venting grooves of 0.025 mm depth are required at weld lines and rib ends; insufficient venting produces local burn marks and residue accumulation. Finished product types include mode 2 charging plug housings, mode 3 charging socket fronts, vehicle inlet housings, charging station RFID card reader frames, and cable sheath connection glands. The compound should not be used for live-contact carriers or parts requiring comparative tracking index above 600 V without a dedicated verification; published data for the exact CTI class of this grade is limited, so the end-product insulation coordination under IEC 60664-1 must be verified on final molded parts.
Consumer information and communications technology enclosures made from Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 are typically molded at wall thicknesses of 1.0 mm to 1.5 mm, where thin-wall filling and post-mold flatness are determined by the interaction between melt viscosity and the flame-retardant package. The compounding addition strategy at the injection molding stage uses 100 wt% virgin pellets for first-surface cosmetic parts; closed-loop regrind from hot-runner gates and reject parts is limited to 20 wt% because higher regrind ratios reduce melt flow length and produce knit-line discoloration on dark textured surfaces. A color masterbatch addition of 0.5 wt% to 1.5 wt% is used only when lot-to-lot color adjustment is required; masterbatch carriers containing polycarbonate or styrene-acrylonitrile are necessary because ABS-based carriers can cause splay and lower the notched impact strength measured by ISO 179-1/1eA. Drying is executed at 80°C for 3 hours with desiccant air dew point below −30°C; residual moisture above 0.02% is a known cause of silver streaks and brittle failure in snap-fit bosses. Molding machine barrel temperatures are set from 250°C rear to 265°C front, with melt temperature 250°C–270°C; injection speed is increased to 150 mm/s–250 mm/s for laptop bottom covers to fill thin ribs before solidification, while packing pressure is held at 70 MPa–85 MPa for 4 to 6 seconds. Mold temperature is controlled at 70°C for gloss and dimensional stability; temperatures below 50°C produce visible flow lines and increase internal stress, while temperatures above 85°C extend cycle time without a measurable gain in UL 94 V-0 performance. Compliance is anchored to IEC 62368-1:2023 for audio/video and ICT equipment safety, UL 746C for polymeric materials in electrical equipment, and UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm; PC/ABS FR C22 parts also require ball-pressure testing under IEC 60695-10-2 and surface tracking verification under IEC 60112 if creepage distances are reduced. Terminal product types include notebook bottom case shells, router top and bottom covers, set-top box front fascias, display bezel frames, and docking station housings. Operating temperature limits are controlled by the continuous use rating; the material is not recommended for enclosures that exceed a continuous internal air temperature of 80°C because long-term aging under load can produce crazing near metal inserts.

In automotive interior programs, Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 is used as a ready-to-mold material for structural lower trim components, where the selection criterion is not only tensile modulus but also the ability to pass interior burning-rate requirements without post-applied flame-retardant coatings. The formulation addition plan differs from electrical applications: virgin pellet content is set at 100 wt% for initial trials and series production, with closed-loop runner regrind limited to 10 wt% and post-consumer recyclate excluded because the lot traceability and volatile organic compound profile required under ISO 12219-1:2012 cannot be guaranteed with recovered material. Low-emission color masterbatch is added at 1.0 wt% to 2.0 wt%; the carrier must be polycarbonate-based, and pigment systems are selected to avoid metal soap stabilizers that contribute to fogging measured by DIN 75201:2011. Drying before processing is carried out in a desiccant dryer at 80°C for 4 hours, with residual moisture below 0.02%; batch-to-batch moisture variation above 0.03% has been observed to increase splay on grained surfaces and reduce mechanical property retention in heat-aged components. Injection molding is performed with barrel temperature from 245°C rear to 260°C front and melt temperature 250°C–265°C; mold temperature is held between 70°C and 90°C for large-area components to lower molded-in stress and avoid audible creaking in snap-fit assembly. Sequential valve gating is used on components longer than 300 mm, and gate positions are moved to non-visible edges to prevent gate blush on grain surfaces. Compliance for flammability is tested under ISO 3795:1989 and FMVSS 302, requiring a horizontal burn rate below 100 mm/min; bus and coach applications may additionally require UNECE R118 Annex 6 for material approval. Finished product types include lower instrument panel closeouts, center console side panels, HVAC ducting flanges, glove box inner frames, and rear console air vent assemblies. The grade is not recommended for instrument panel top surfaces in dark colors without additional UV coating, because PC/ABS FR compounds in this thermal class can exhibit surface chalking and gloss shift after prolonged solar load; continuous surface temperatures should be maintained below 90°C.
Household appliance components molded from Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 are specified where the end-product standard calls for glow-wire ignition and flammability performance beyond the baseline 550°C or 650°C levels applied to ordinary external enclosures. The relevant compliance path is IEC 60335-1:2020 clause 30.2, which classifies unattended appliances and current-carrying parts by glow-wire severity, evaluated according to IEC 60695-2-11:2014; PC/ABS FR C22 is processed into parts that are commonly submitted at 750°C and 850°C glow-wire test temperatures for wall thicknesses of 1.5 mm or greater. Formulation-addition practice limits virgin pellet use to 100 wt% with closed-loop regrind no more than 15 wt%; regrind from parts that have been heat-aged, painted, or assembled with adhesives is rejected because contamination can reduce flame retardancy at the glow-wire contact point. Color masterbatch addition is restricted to 0.5 wt%–1.0 wt%, and pigment packages are screened for metal oxides that catalyze polymer degradation during glow-wire heating; a more conservative masterbatch loading is used for white and grey appliance shells because higher pigment content has been associated with earlier ignition at 750°C in third-party test reports. Drying is carried out at 80°C for 3 hours to 4 hours to a moisture level below 0.02%; the molding process uses barrel temperatures of 240°C rear, 250°C center, and 255°C front, with melt temperature kept at 240°C–260°C. Mold temperature is controlled at 60°C–80°C, with injection speed set at moderate values of 60 mm/s–120 mm/s for thick-walled bases and packing pressure at 60 MPa–80 MPa for 5 to 8 seconds. Metal inserts in power cord termination covers are preheated to 80°C to prevent sink marks and are inserted only after mold temperature stabilizes; post-molding annealing at 80°C for 1 hour is applied when metal-to-plastic stress cracking is a concern. Terminal finished parts include coffee machine housing bases, electric kettle power base covers, food processor lower housings, garment steamer shrouds, and appliance control-panel frames. The operational boundary is direct contact with heating elements or surfaces above 100°C; such locations require a material with higher continuous use temperature such as glass-filled polyamide or PBT, not PC/ABS FR C22.
Where low-voltage control assemblies require thick-walled structural housings with high stiffness and flame retardancy, Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 is processed into renewable-energy control enclosures, inverter interface trays, and energy-storage battery management system compartments. These parts are normally molded at wall thicknesses of 2.5 mm to 3.2 mm, which shifts the molding process away from thin-wall filling and toward packing-controlled shrinkage and long cooling cycles. The material is run at 100 wt% virgin pellets because outdoor and semi-outdoor applications require stable UV, hydrolysis, and thermal-cycle performance; closed-loop runner regrind is limited to 10 wt% and is used only when the runner system is hot-runner and does not include cold sprues with degraded material. The use of post-consumer recyclate is not permitted when the final assembly is to be evaluated under IEC 61010-1:2010+A1:2019 for measurement, control, and laboratory equipment or UL 508A for industrial control panels. Drying is performed at 80°C for 4 hours; the thick sections make residual moisture above 0.02% especially destructive because internal voids and delamination at the core are not visible on the surface but reduce dielectric strength under IEC 60243-1. Barrel temperature profile is set at 250°C rear, 260°C center, 265°C front, and nozzle 260°C; melt temperature should stay between 250°C and 270°C. Injection speed is reduced to 40 mm/s–80 mm/s for thick sections to avoid jetting, while packing pressure is increased to 70 MPa–90 MPa for 8 to 12 seconds to compensate for volume shrinkage; mold temperature is set at 70°C–90°C for dimensional stability. Screw rotation is limited to 40 rpm–60 rpm and back pressure to 0.5 MPa–1.0 MPa, with recovery time not exceeding 5 seconds to limit residence time. Terminal product types include solar inverter control-chassis covers, battery management system module housings, industrial power supply front panels, power quality meter enclosures, and control cabinet thermal-management fan shrouds. The compound is not specified for direct outdoor exposure without a UV-stabilized coating or co-molded gasket; continuous service temperature is limited to 80°C under mechanical load, and environments with long-term contact to glycol-based heat-transfer fluids or amine-cured potting compounds require material compatibility testing before release.

Dongguan Qiantai PC/ABS FR C22 is a flame-retardant polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene blend supplied as cylindrical pellets for injection molding and, in selected cases, extrusion of electrical enclosure profiles. The C22 designation identifies a halogen-free phosphorus-based system intended for UL 94 V-0 at wall thicknesses of 1.5 mm to 2.0 mm. Because the manufacturer does not publish a complete ISO data sheet for this exact configuration at the time of writing, the property ranges and processing parameters assembled here are drawn from the C-series product family and from publicly available data for comparable halogen-free PC/ABS FR compounds. A lot-specific certificate of analysis should be requested before production qualification.
Bulk storage should be sealed at 10 °C to 30 °C; dried pellets exposed to ambient air for more than 30 min must be re-dried.
Hydrolysis is the primary processing constraint. In a desiccant dryer, pellet moisture must be held below 0.02 wt% by Karl Fischer titration, with inlet air at 100 °C to 110 °C and a dew point of −40 °C or lower for 4 h to 6 h. At ambient relative humidity above 60 %, open hopper residence should not exceed 30 min. Barrel melt temperature measured at the nozzle is typically 240 °C to 270 °C, with the feed zone 30 °C to 50 °C colder. Mold surface temperature is kept at 60 °C to 90 °C. Back pressure in a reciprocating screw machine remains between 0.5 MPa and 1.0 MPa to densify the melt without excessive shear heating. Screw recovery speed should produce a circumferential velocity of 0.5 m/s to 1.0 m/s. Total melt residence time above 260 °C is limited to 10 min; longer residence darkens the ABS phase and generates black specks in hot-runner drops.
On production-scale twin-screw extruders with L/D ratios of 22:1 to 28:1, barrel-wall temperature overshoot can reach 5 °C to 10 °C above setpoint during high-shear dispersion of the phosphate ester. This overshoot is measured by melt thermocouples in the adapter. If the reading exceeds 280 °C, the screw speed should be reduced by 10 % to 15 % or the feed zone temperature lowered before visible degradation appears. Reciprocating screw injection machines with check-ring wear show greater shot-to-shot variation in C22 because the lower melt viscosity at flame-retardant loading allows more backflow across the check ring. Published data for this specific C22 configuration is limited; the values are transferred from adjacent phosphate-ester PC/ABS grades and should be used as feasibility limits, not as certified process settings.
Gate design has a disproportionate effect on flame-retardant PC/ABS because phosphate ester migration to the frozen layer reduces surface gloss and can mimic delamination. Submarine gates and tunnel gates smaller than 1.0 mm cause excessive shear and local temperature spikes above 280 °C, producing brown streaks at the gate exit. Production lines running eight-cavity charger housings have switched from tunnel gates to fan gates with land length 1.5 mm and land thickness 0.8 mm to bring reject rates below 2 %; the failure mode is common to C-series phosphate-ester PC/ABS grades.
The following table reports an envelope assembled from product-family data and publicly available testing of halogen-free PC/ABS FR grades. Values are normalised to 23 °C and 50 % relative humidity after conditioning according to ISO 291. The exact C22 lot certificate may differ; the ranges are not a substitute for the manufacturer’s certified data sheet.

Because mechanical properties of PC/ABS blends are sensitive to test specimen preparation, ISO 527-2/1A tensile bars moulded in a two-plate tool with a film gate can differ from ISO 527-2/1B bars from a multi-cavity family tool by 3 MPa to 5 MPa in tensile stress at yield. This is a moulded-in orientation effect rather than a material defect. When comparing C22 with brominated PC/ABS, specimens must be prepared to the same standard and the same gate geometry; otherwise, the comparison is invalid. When North American customers request tensile properties, ASTM D638-14 values are not directly interchangeable with ISO 527-2/1A values because specimen type I and 50 mm/min crosshead speed produce different orientation and necking behaviour.
The primary useful difference from brominated/antimony trioxide PC/ABS is the absence of halogenated flame retardants, which changes smoke density and regulatory status under IEC 61249-2-21. If the supplier certification confirms chlorine below 900 ppm, bromine below 900 ppm, and total halogen below 1500 ppm, the material can be considered halogen-free. The trade-off is a narrower processing window. Phosphate ester flame retardants used in C-series products plasticise the melt; capillary rheometry at 1000 s⁻¹ typically shows shear viscosity 15 % to 25 % lower than an unmodified PC/ABS of comparable molecular weight, but the decomposition onset of the phosphate ester is lower than that of the brominated system. Low-melt-temperature molding at 240 °C is feasible, yet operators must avoid local barrel hot spots because acidic degradation products attack chrome-plated screw surfaces and beryllium-copper tooling inserts.
Compared with a general-purpose PC/ABS of identical melt flow, C22 shows reduced notched impact because the flame-retardant phase dilutes the elastomeric contribution of the ABS domain. A typical unmodified PC/ABS may exhibit notched Izod values from 35 kJ/m² to 60 kJ/m²; the flame-retardant grade falls to 10 kJ/m² to 20 kJ/m². Dimensional stability after heat exposure is similar or slightly higher because char-forming additives increase residual mass in TGA up to 600 °C. Published data for this specific C22 configuration is limited; the comparative values are derived from supplier publications for adjacent grades.

| Halogen content | Below IEC 61249-2-21 thresholds if certified | Exceeds thresholds | Typically below thresholds |
The most operationally significant difference is not the data sheet but handling behaviour. Brominated PC/ABS often tolerates moisture up to 0.05 wt% before surface defects appear; C22-type phosphate ester systems require moisture below 0.02 wt% because the phosphate ester is more hygroscopic. On a production line with central drying and long vacuum conveying, this difference forces loop dew point checks at the hopper inlet rather than assuming the dryer setpoint equals pellet moisture. In plants using regrind, C22 regrind should not exceed 30 wt% of the shot unless mechanical properties are revalidated under ISO 180 and UL 94.
Compliance for export is assessed against RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II for lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE; C22 is not expected to contain these restricted substances above 1000 ppm, except cadmium at 100 ppm. REACH SVHC screening under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 must be confirmed against the lot-specific SDS. For electrical insulators in information technology equipment, fire enclosure requirements under IEC 62368-1 clause 5.3.2 may be satisfied by UL 94 V-0 at the end-product minimum thickness. Glow-wire testing to IEC 60695-2-11 may be specified at 650 °C or 750 °C; a halogen-free PC/ABS can pass, but published data for this specific C22 configuration is limited, and each end-product wall thickness must be tested. Avoid amine-curable potting systems and PVC gaskets; migration of amine or plasticizer can contaminate the phosphate ester and reduce UL 94 performance.
Tooling for C22 runs should use stainless steel or chrome plating in hot-runner channels. Uncoated carbon steel at 270 °C can catalyse phosphate ester degradation, increasing plate-out on mould vents after 10,000 to 20,000 cycles. Mould maintenance intervals are therefore shorter than those for brominated grades; vent cleaning and chemical purging with a commercial PC-abrasive may be required every 100,000 shots. This operational boundary is derived from production experience with halogen-free PC/ABS grades, not from a certified C22-specific document.
In multi-cavity injection tooling for power strip shells, adapter bodies, charging plug housings, and control-box covers, C22 is processed at wall sections of 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm and must satisfy UL 94 V-0 with snap-fit assembly. Snap-fit fingers should be limited to 0.8 mm to 1.0 mm thickness, with an undercut depth of 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm and a root radius not less than 0.3 mm. The grade is not recommended for living hinges or closures with repeated flexure above 10,000 cycles because the flame-retardant phase reduces low-cycle fatigue resistance in the ABS phase. Published data for this specific C22 configuration is limited; these snap-fit values are design rules from production layouts rather than the supplier’s certified design guide.
