When automotive interior lower carrier modules move from talc-filled polypropylene to Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS, the primary process control point shifts from melt flow stability to moisture-dependent hydrolysis suppression. In series production, Junde Plastic PC/ABS is metered at 100 wt% of the polymer fraction for structural inserts and visible Class A substrates; if re-grind is permitted, the closed-loop addition is capped at 20 wt% and the final blend must not deviate by more than ±10 % in melt mass-flow rate under ISO 1133-1:2022 at 260 °C/5 kg. The pellets are dried in desiccant dryers at 80–100 °C for 3–4 h, with a dew point no higher than -30 °C, until residual moisture is below 0.02 %. Molding is performed on single-screw reciprocating injection machines with a screw compression ratio of 2.0:1 to 2.5:1, a check-ring clearance below 0.05 mm, and a nozzle temperature held within ±5 °C of the front-zone setpoint. Melt temperature is maintained between 250 °C and 270 °C, and the tool surface is held at 60–80 °C to balance flow length, deflection temperature, and part release in 1.2–2.0 mm nominal wall sections.
Failure modes observed on production lines include silver streaking when hopper residence time exceeds 30 min at ambient relative humidity above 60 % RH, delamination at knit lines when vent depth is less than 0.02 mm, and surface blistering when the holding pressure is reduced below 60 MPa before gate freeze. These defects are not corrected by raising melt temperature because the PC phase begins chain scission at upper limits; the corrective action is extended pre-drying or increased mold temperature. Regulatory compliance for interior structural components is evaluated against IATF 16949:2016 for series production process control, ISO 3795:2000 for horizontal burn rate, VDA 278:2011 for VOC and FOG emission behavior, and RoHS 2011/65/EU annex II substance limits. Tensile yield and elongation at break are batch-released under ISO 527-2:2012, notched Charpy impact values under ISO 179-1/1eA, and polymer identification under ISO 11469:2016.
Downstream production of center console carriers, glove box housings, HVAC distribution housings, door panel lower trim brackets, and steering column outer shrouds proceeds through single-shot injection molding with sequenced hydraulic core pulls. Clamp force is selected between 800 t and 1,600 t according to projected area and flow length; injection pressure is maintained at 80–120 MPa, hold pressure at 60–80 MPa, and back pressure at 0.5–1.0 MPa. Screw rotation speed is controlled between 40 min⁻¹ and 80 min⁻¹ to limit shear heating and pigment dispersion variation. Weld-line location is inspected under low-angle polarized light after a molded-in structural rib is cross-sectioned; visible delamination triggers a pre-drying cycle extension of 1 h rather than an increase in melt temperature.
Wall-mounted AC charging enclosures produced from Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS require a flame-retardant package capable of passing UL 94 V0 at 1.5 mm and glow-wire ignition temperature 850 °C under IEC 60695-2-11:2014. The polymer component is introduced as a ready-to-mold compound at 100 wt%; dilution with unreinforced PC or ABS regrind is not recommended below 70 wt% original PC/ABS because the flame-retardant concentration becomes unpredictable and batch-to-batch melt flow can shift beyond ±15 % of the qualified value. Pre-drying is set at 80–90 °C for 4–6 h to reach a residual moisture level below 0.02 %. Melt temperature is capped at 260 °C, because phosphorus-based flame-retardant systems in PC/ABS start to release acidic volatiles above 280 °C, which corrode mold steel and produce white surface haze. The process window between complete plastication and volatile release is therefore held to ±5 °C around the qualified front-zone profile.
Molding for charging station shells and power distribution covers is performed with mold temperatures of 60–70 °C to promote surface replication of textured Class A surfaces and to prevent unwetted glass fiber bundles if a 5 wt% short-glass reinforcement variant is specified for screw boss strength. Injection speed profiling is mandatory: the first 70 % of cavity volume is filled at 30–50 mm/s, then the profile is reduced to 10–15 mm/s at the end of fill to avoid jetting around deep boss features. On large enclosures with flow length exceeding 400 mm, a sequential valve-gated hot runner is used to remove cold-slug defects and to avoid reduced packing at the junction of flow fronts. The screw diameter is matched to shot weight so that the cushion remains between 3 mm and 6 mm; if cushion falls below 1.5 mm, the hydraulic pressure spike is transmitted to the flame-retardant melt and increases local shear heating. Compliance includes IEC 61851-1:2017 for conductive charging systems, IEC 62477-1:2012 for power conversion safety, UL 746C for outdoor UV and water exposure when installed in unshaded locations, and EN 45545-2:2020 where the housing is used in rail-side electrical cabinets. Terminal product types include AC wallbox housings, charging connector bodies, motor control enclosure covers, and smart meter front panels.
For diagnostic analyzer shells and laboratory automation enclosures, the selecting facility typically evaluates Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS against ISO 10993-5:2009 for cytotoxicity and ISO 10993-10:2010 for skin sensitization when the enclosure is considered a limited-contact medical device component. The pellets are injected at 100 wt% of the polymer fraction; release agents and nucleating additives are limited to 0.2 wt% total formulation mass to keep extractable profiles within acceptance criteria under ISO 10993-12:2021. Production occurs under ISO 13485:2016 quality controls, and electrical safety of the finished diagnostic equipment is assessed under IEC 60601-1:2005/AMD2:2020. The material is not positioned for direct long-term skin contact or food-contact ingestible applications; published data for this specific configuration is limited if the device requires repeated sterilization by autoclave above 110 °C.
The dominant process risk is environmental stress cracking from quaternary ammonium disinfectants and alcohol-based cleaning agents absorbed into the surface at room temperature. Molded enclosures are annealed at 70–80 °C for 1–2 h after ejection to reduce residual stress levels below visible stress-whitening thresholds in polarized light. Pre-drying at 90–100 °C for 3–4 h is required; residual moisture above 0.03 % produces hydrolysis pits around thin ribs. Injection molding uses melt temperatures between 245 °C and 265 °C, tool temperatures of 50–65 °C, and slow screw rotation at 30–50 min⁻¹ to preserve molecular weight. Terminal products include ultrasound system monitor frames, hematology analyzer housings, centrifuge covers, PCR thermocycler lids, and hospital bed control enclosures.
In power tool housing applications, the mechanical specification is often dominated by a notched Izod impact result measured at -20 °C under ISO 180/A rather than room-temperature tensile data. For angle grinder and cordless drill housings, Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS is introduced at 100 wt% of the molded polymer, but a 10 wt% short-glass reinforcement option is applied when boss pull-out strength under ISO 527-2 must exceed that of unreinforced PC/ABS by at least 25 %. The compound is pre-dried at 80–90 °C for 4 h to reach 0.02 % residual moisture, then processed at melt temperature 250–270 °C, mold temperature 50–70 °C, and injection pressure 90–130 MPa on reciprocating screw machines with a screw L/D of 20:1 or 22:1. The clamp force is selected to provide 0.5–0.7 t/cm² of projected area, and the cushion is maintained at 3–5 mm to allow stable second-stage packing.
When short-glass reinforcement is used, screw wear and melt homogeneity are managed by using bimetallic barrels and screw surfaces with a hardness of HRC 58 or higher. The nozzle orifice is opened to 3–4 mm to reduce shear heating, and the melt cushion is watched for fluctuations above 0.5 mm; such fluctuations indicate screw recovery instability and can create local glass concentration differences at the gate. Compliance for cordless tool battery pack cases assumes IEC 62841-1:2014 for hand-held motor-operated tools, UL 94 at the required thickness for the specific market, and ASTM D256-10(2026) for notched Izod impact if the buyer's purchasing specification is written around US units. Chemical resistance testing is performed under ISO 175:2010 using reference fluids including motor oil, lithium-ion battery electrolyte simulant, and cutting oil. A production bottleneck arises when gas-assisted injection is used for hollow handles: the gas channel diameter must not exceed 3 mm in wall sections below 2.5 mm, otherwise the inner surface freezes before gas penetration and the boss collapses during secondary thread-tapping operations. Terminal parts include angle grinder clamshells, drill driver housings, nailer magazines, lithium-ion battery pack frames, and industrial keyboard enclosures.
For batch-to-batch lot approval, the following matrix is used to confirm that Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS meets the minimum normative references for the selected downstream sectors. Where the referenced standard does not define a fixed production limit, the cell is marked “buyer-specific” to avoid the use of unverified numeric targets.

Ultrasonic weld joint integrity in notebook base covers is typically qualified by cyclic drop testing after 168 h of exposure at 65 °C and 85 % RH; this condition has driven PC/ABS selection because the alloy retains weld strength better than mineral-filled PC under high humidity. Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS is added at 100 wt% of the polymer dosage in thin-wall injection molding; if a matte surface finish requires 2–4 wt% of a cross-linked PMMA matting additive, the weld strength under ISO 527-2 should be re-qualified because the additive migrates to the weld interface. Pre-drying is set at 95–105 °C for 4–6 h to below 0.02 % moisture; any lot with melt mass-flow rate deviation greater than ±10 % under ISO 1133-1:2022 at 260 °C/5 kg is withheld from thin-wall production.
Downstream operations use hot-runner injection molding with valve gated nozzles, mold temperature 70–85 °C, melt temperature 260–280 °C, and injection speed 100–200 mm/s for wall sections from 0.9 mm to 1.2 mm. Thin-wall filling at 0.9 mm requires a shot-to-shot melt cushion of 2–4 mm; lower cushion values are associated with short shots at the end of fill because the compensating phase cannot maintain pressure. Vent depth is limited to 0.015–0.03 mm to prevent flash while allowing air evacuation at fill speeds above 100 mm/s. The hot-runner manifold is maintained at 270–280 °C for non-flame-retardant grades but lowered to 255–265 °C for flame-retardant grades to avoid additive decomposition. The compliance suite includes IEC 62368-1:2023 for audio/video and IT equipment, UL 94 V0 at 1.0 mm, and RoHS 2011/65/EU exemption review for internal brominated flame-retardant species. Terminal product types include laptop bottom covers, monitor front bezels, Wi-Fi router housings, power adapter shells, and smart speaker structural rings.
Large-format appliance fascia panels and robot vacuum housings impose a different constraint: flatness across a 600 mm span must remain within 0.8 mm after 24 h at 40 °C and 90 % RH. Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS is processed at 100 wt% of the polymer fraction, with optional 5 wt% talc or wollastonite addition for lower CLTE values, but the filler addition raises melt viscosity and demands a melt temperature increase of 5–10 °C only if the screw wear profile permits. Drying is maintained at 80–100 °C for 3–4 h, and melt temperature is controlled between 240 °C and 260 °C. Tooling uses sequential valve gating to remove weld lines; mold surface temperature is held at 70–85 °C to delay solidification and allow packing. After ejection, parts are stress-relieved at 70 °C for 1 h.
Compliance is governed by IEC 60335-1:2020 for household appliance safety, UL 94 V0 or UL 94 HB depending on the location of the part relative to current-carrying parts, and IEC 60695-2-11 glow wire at 750 °C for unattended appliance housings. Chemical compatibility is checked with household cleaning agents under ISO 175:2010. Terminal products include washing machine control panel housings, vacuum cleaner upper bodies, steam iron outer shells, robot vacuum sensor bodies, and air purifier front covers.

Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS is supplied as a compounded polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene blend in pellet form for injection moulding and extrusion. Sub-grades are differentiated by melt volume-flow rate, impact-modifier package, and flame-retardant additive system rather than by a single universal model code; the producer’s lot-specific certificate of analysis remains the controlling specification. Representative values for the unfilled injection-moulding sub-grade include a density of 1.14–1.16 g/cm³ determined by ISO 1183-1:2019, a melt volume-flow rate of 12–25 cm³/10 min at 260 °C/5 kg by ISO 1133-1:2022, a tensile yield stress of 55–60 MPa by ISO 527-2:2012, and a notched Izod impact at 23 °C of 35–60 kJ/m² by ISO 180/A:2023. Melt compounding is performed on a co-rotating twin-screw extruder with an L/D ratio of 40:1 and a barrel profile of 240–270 °C; high-shear dispersion downstream of the polycarbonate melting zone distributes ABS graft domains without inducing polycarbonate chain scission. Typical use sectors include electronic device enclosures, automotive interior trim, power-tool housings, and thin-wall structural consoles.

These ranges should not be applied to coloured or mineral-filled sub-grades, where filler size distribution and pigment carrier systems can shift flow and impact behaviour. Lot-specific thermal stabiliser and mould-release packages also influence spiral-flow length and weld-line toughness; process capability studies under ISO 294-1:2017 specimen preparation conditions are required before transfer to production tooling. Capillary rheometry data generated by ISO 11443:2021 on general-purpose material typically show apparent viscosity from 250–350 Pa·s at 100 s⁻¹ and 50–80 Pa·s at 1000 s⁻¹ at 260 °C, indicating pronounced shear thinning. This non-Newtonian behaviour permits filling of thin-walled sections that neat polycarbonate cannot replicate without excessive injection pressure.
Residual moisture in the polycarbonate phase is the principal quality risk in Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS. Above 0.02 wt% moisture, measurable hydrolysis of polycarbonate occurs at normal melt temperatures of 250–280 °C. Production-scale drying uses a desiccant-wheel hopper dryer with an air dew point below -40 °C and an airflow of 3.0–3.5 m³/h per kg/h of material throughput. Pellets are held at 80–100 °C for 4–6 h; at relative humidity above 60%, drying time is extended to 8 h and residual moisture is verified by ISO 15512:2019 Method B. If pellets are over-dried above 110 °C for longer than 12 h, surface oxidation can increase yellowness index by more than 2 units under ASTM E313-20. Hoppers without closed-loop dew-point control are not recommended for this grade because moisture regain after 20 min of ambient exposure can exceed 0.01 wt% in high-humidity plants. When moisture ingress reaches 0.05 wt%, melt-phase hydrolysis may reduce notched Izod impact at 23 °C by more than 20% after injection moulding.
After predrying, barrel residence time should be limited to 5–8 min at 260–275 °C. Residence above 10 min accelerates polycarbonate chain scission and ABS rubber crosslinking, producing surface splay, brown streaking, and loss of weld-line toughness. On a 3500 kN hydraulic injection-moulding machine with a 50 mm general-purpose screw and compression ratio of 2.5:1, short-shot trials for a 1.2 mm wall electronic enclosure establish a fill time below 0.8 s; holding pressure is set between 600 bar and 900 bar, and screw back pressure between 3 bar and 7 bar. Mould temperature is controlled by a water- or oil-circuit thermolator at 60–90 °C. Lower mould temperatures intensify moulded-in stress and reduce practical notched Izod value at -30 °C by more than 15% in production parts tested with ISO 180/A:2023.
For long-flow components with flow-length-to-wall-thickness ratios above 150:1, mould-filling simulation is performed before tool fabrication using pressure-dependent PVT data and shear-viscosity curves generated by ISO 11443:2021. Gate velocity above 400 mm/s is usually required to reduce hesitation lines, but excessive shear at the gate, above 100 000 s⁻¹, can locally degrade the polycarbonate phase and create silvery streaks. Weld-line tensile strength in unfilled PC/ABS is normally 50–70% of parent-material strength; raising mould temperature to 90 °C and positioning the weld line away from stress concentrators improves part-level durability.
For electrical enclosures, secondary battery housings, and power-supply covers, the relevant thermal parameters are heat deflection temperature under 1.80 MPa, Vicat softening temperature, and moulded-in shrinkage. The unfilled Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS sub-grade yields HDT values of 105–118 °C by ISO 75-2:2013, Vicat B50 values of 128–138 °C by ISO 306:2022, and machine-direction mould shrinkage of 0.4–0.7% by ISO 294-4:2018. Flame-retardant sub-grades containing a phosphazene or phosphate ester additive package reduce peak heat release and achieve UL 94 V-0 at 1.5 mm. The flame-retardant additives migrate slowly within the polymer matrix; continuous service above 80 °C can raise surface-bloom risk, altering surface resistivity and gloss measured by IEC 62631-3-2 and ISO 2813:2014. In moulded electrical enclosures, creepage-distance design must follow IEC 60664-1; the material itself does not define clearance requirements.
Adhesion of two-component polyurethane coatings to Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS after flame or low-pressure plasma pretreatment is evaluated by ISO 2409:2020 cross-cut adhesion; cohesive substrate failure rather than interfacial delamination is expected for pretreated surfaces. Automotive interior trim parts are additionally screened for fogging by DIN 75201 and for volatile organic compound emissions by VDA 278. Representative condensed-volatile values for low-emission PC/ABS compounds of this class fall below 2.0 mg; published data for the specific Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS sub-grade are limited, and lot-specific certificates should be obtained before part approval. Direct contact with polyurethane foam systems containing amine-based catalysts is not recommended for stressed components because residual amine species can induce environmental stress cracking at surface-stress concentrations above 25 MPa.
Compared with neat polycarbonate, Dongguan Junde Plastic PC/ABS exhibits lower melt viscosity and lower processing pressure. At 260 °C/5 kg, the melt volume-flow rate is 12–25 cm³/10 min, whereas medium-flow polycarbonate grades typically run 8–12 cm³/10 min; this reduces injection-pressure requirements in long-flow thin-wall tools. Relative to a high-impact ABS grade, the blend raises HDT under 1.80 MPa from roughly 85–95 °C to 105–118 °C and improves notched Izod at -30 °C to 15–25 kJ/m², but reduces resistance to aromatic and ketone solvents. Against PC/PBT, the PC/ABS shows higher low-temperature impact but lower continuous resistance to hot water and automotive glycol fluids; PC/PBT is preferred for sensor housings where hydrolysis resistance at 90 °C in ethylene glycol blends is required. Against PC/ASA, the PC/ABS has higher low-temperature ductility but lower surface gloss retention and colour stability in xenon-arc weathering under ISO 4892-2:2013 for 1000 h. Selection between these alternatives is therefore controlled by the balance of low-temperature impact, solvent exposure, and UV stability.
Regulatory status is lot-specific and is documented through supplier declarations aligned with the matrix below. No general statement covers food-contact or medical end-use. End-use migration testing under (EU) No 10/2011 or applicable FDA conditions is required before use in food-contact articles.

| REACH SVHC declaration | EC 1907/2006 Article 33 | SVHC concentration below 0.1 wt% per supplier declaration |
| Flammability rating | UL 94 | V-0 at 1.5 mm for flame-retardant grade; general-purpose grade is HB |
| Food-contact compliance | (EU) No 10/2011 / FDA 21 CFR | No generic approval; end-use migration testing required |
Chemical resistance of polycarbonate-rich blends is not uniform across chemical classes. Ketones, esters, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and strong alkalis attack the polycarbonate phase; vinyl acetate-based adhesives and some epoxy curing agents can produce stress crazing at moulded-in stress concentrations above 20 MPa. Application-specific chemical resistance should be evaluated by ISO 22088-3:2020 environmental stress-cracking methods rather than inferred from ABS or PC data. The material is incompatible with amine-based mould-release sprays and should not be processed with nylon or acetal residues in the hopper unless the feed system is purged with a low-viscosity polyolefin. Inventory should be stored in sealed moisture-barrier packaging at or below 35 °C and below 60% relative humidity. Regrind addition should not exceed 20 wt% for appearance-critical components unless surface uniformity is confirmed by ISO 2813:2014 gloss measurement and ASTM E313-20 yellowness index.
