Low-gloss PC/ABS alloys of the JH1000C class are processed for lower interior trim assemblies where heat soak stability and occupant contact durability are required without the grain-matching constraints imposed on upper instrument panel skins. The grade is specified for injection molding at melt temperatures of 245–265 °C and mold temperatures of 70–85 °C, with desiccant pre-drying at 85 °C for 4–6 h to a residual moisture content below 0.02 wt%. In production plants where ambient relative humidity exceeds 60 %, closed-loop material conveying from silo to hopper dryer is used because short open-material exposure produces splay on grained Class A surfaces. Compliance standards for this segment include FMVSS 302 and ISO 3795:1989 for horizontal burn rate of interior materials, REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII for restricted substances, GADSL for automotive declaration requirements, and VDA 278:2011 when volatile and semi-volatile organic compound limits are contractually imposed. The formulation addition ratio for grained black or charcoal lower trim is 90–95 wt% virgin JH1000C and 5–10 wt% closed-loop regrind from sprues, runners, and rejected parts that have passed de-dusting and moisture re-verification; regrind above 10 wt% has been observed on production lines to reduce grain retention and increase flow-induced gloss variation near gate vestiges. For dark grained components, 1–2 wt% low-VOC color masterbatch is metered at the feed throat, with the carrier selected to match PC/ABS melt viscosity. Downstream processing is centered on reciprocating-screw injection molding machines with screw L/D ratios of 20–24 and compression ratios of 2.0–2.4; molded part walls of 2.0–3.0 mm are filled using sequential valve gating to reposition weld lines away from visible grained surfaces, holding pressure is maintained at 50–70 bar, and clamp force is estimated from projected area. Terminal component types include lower dashboard panels, center console side trims, glove box outer ledges, door lower map pockets, and seat belt guide covers that must tolerate repeated occupant contact and cabin heat soak.
Thin-wall consumer electronics enclosures in the 1.2–1.8 mm nominal wall range expose the melt to high shear and rapid skin freezing; splay control therefore begins with desiccant hopper drying at 85–90 °C until dryer outlet dew point remains below −40 °C and residual moisture is below 0.015 wt%. JH1000C is applicable to notebook bottom covers, router housings, monitor rear shells, and docking station bases where part safety is governed by IEC 62368-1:2023 for audio/video and information technology equipment, with RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II and REACH SVHC declarations applied at the homogeneous material level. A representative formulation addition ratio for thin-wall electronics is 98 wt% virgin JH1000C plus 2 wt% pigment or antistatic masterbatch, with clean in-house regrind limited to 5 wt% and used only in internal ribs or boss arrays; no regrind is introduced into cosmetic Class A exterior surfaces because batch-to-batch regrind viscosity shifts alter gloss uniformity and knit line visibility. The downstream production process uses high-speed injection molding machines with electric screw drives, mold temperature control at 70–90 °C, and melt temperature held at 250–270 °C; filling velocities of 150–250 mm/s are common, but published data for the specific JH1000C lot must be checked against its certificate of analysis because an MVR shift of 2–3 cm³/10 min under ISO 1133-1:2022 conditions changes fill pressure and can induce short shots at thin ribs. Post-mold dimensional verification is performed after 48 h conditioning at 23 °C and 50 % RH per ISO 291:2008. For hot runner systems, accumulated degraded material is purged with a PC/ABS-compatible purging compound every 8 h to prevent black specks in thin-wall parts. Standard UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm is commonly cited for this application; where V-1 at 1.5 mm is required, the grade must be revalidated because published data for JH1000C in that specific flammability configuration may be limited. Terminal finished product types include notebook bottom covers, Wi-Fi router housings, monitor rear shells, tablet docking station bases, and edge device enclosures.
Horizontal-axis washing machine control panel substrates and dishwasher front fascia are molded with wall thicknesses of 2.5–3.5 mm to survive repeated exposure to alkaline detergent mist and 60–70 °C internal air. For these components, JH1000C is processed on injection molding machines equipped with gas-assist or valve-gated hot runner systems to suppress sink marks above reinforcing ribs; melt temperature is held at 240–260 °C, mold temperature at 65–80 °C, and pre-drying at 80 °C for 4 h is mandatory when ambient relative humidity exceeds 60 %. The compliance matrix for this segment includes IEC 60335-1:2020 Clause 30 for resistance to heat and fire, UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm as the minimum acceptance criterion, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II for restricted substances, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 for SVHC declarations. Formulation addition ratio in this segment is 80–85 wt% virgin JH1000C with 15–20 wt% in-house regrind from light gray and white production streams that have been segregated to avoid color contamination; 1.5–2.5 wt% white masterbatch and 0.3–0.5 wt% antioxidant stabilizer masterbatch are metered at the feed throat. Downstream production includes injection molding followed by dimensional stability conditioning for 48 h at 23 °C and 50 % RH per ISO 291:2008, gloss measurement on flat fascia areas, and stress-cracking evaluation under load using the end customer’s specific detergent formulation. Terminal finished product types include washing machine control panel substrates, dishwasher front fascia, refrigerator door handle inlays, vacuum cleaner lower housings, and air purifier front frames.

During clamshell tool fill of portable drill housings, the melt front splits around core pins and reunites in zones that are later subjected to 1.0 m drop tests onto concrete; weakly fused knit lines therefore dominate field returns. For power tool housing applications, JH1000C is molded on injection molding machines with high-speed hydraulic or electric screw drives, 2.0–3.5 mm wall thickness, mold temperatures of 75–90 °C, and melt temperatures of 250–270 °C. The material must be dried to below 0.02 wt% moisture before processing; production-scale dryers with dew points of −40 °C or lower are used to avoid splay at textured surfaces. Compliance for this segment references IEC 62841-1:2014 for hand-held motor-operated electric tools, UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm for non-flame-retardant structural housings, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II, and REACH SVHC reporting; if a customer specification demands V-1 or V-0 at the same wall thickness, JH1000C must be revalidated or replaced with a flame-retardant PC/ABS grade. The formulation addition ratio is ordinarily 92 wt% virgin JH1000C, 6 wt% clean in-house regrind from sprues and runners, and 2 wt% color masterbatch; glass-fiber or mineral filler is not dry-blended at the press because dry blending creates viscosity heterogeneity and poor filler wet-out. A dedicated reinforced PC/ABS grade should be selected where higher flexural modulus is needed. On production lines, screw recovery time variation greater than 0.5 s is treated as an indicator of broad regrind particle size distribution and triggers a screen check before further molding. Terminal components include drill clamshells, angle grinder motor shrouds, battery pack enclosures, nailer magazine covers, and charger housings, all of which are subjected to production-line torque-out and drop tests that confirm boss retention and snap-fit integrity after thermal cycling.
Where printer front panels, scanner bases, and multi-function printer cassette bezels are specified with UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm rather than halogen-free V-1, JH1000C is used in high-gloss and textured variants without additional flame-retardant masterbatch. The downstream molding process for this segment emphasizes optical surface quality: 2.0–3.0 mm wall stock, melt temperatures of 245–265 °C, mold temperatures of 70–85 °C, and valve-gated hot runners to avoid flow lines in thin fascia sections. Drying is performed at 85 °C for 4 h to a moisture threshold below 0.02 wt%, and the machine injection profile is adjusted to avoid jetting at the gate; screw speed of 15–25 mm/s during metering and holding pressure of 50–80 bar are used for packout of ribs and boss arrays. Compliance obligations include IEC 62368-1:2023 for information technology equipment safety, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II, REACH SVHC declarations, and Blue Angel RAL-UZ 171 where post-consumer recycled content or halogen-free plastic parts are contractual requirements for office devices. Formulation addition ratio is 95 wt% virgin JH1000C and 5 wt% post-industrial recovered PC/ABS from approved closed-loop sources, with 1.0–1.5 wt% antistatic masterbatch added for toner-contact components to limit dust attraction; high-gloss exterior panels are produced with 100 wt% virgin material to avoid recylate-induced surface defects. Terminal product types include printer exterior panels, copier front doors, scanner housing bases, and multi-function printer paper cassette bezels. Published data for JH1000C in thin-wall V-1 configurations is limited; end users must conduct UL 94 vertical burn trials at the intended minimum thickness before specifying this grade for halogen-free V-1 office equipment parts.
Indoor 5G customer-premises equipment (CPE) units and Wi-Fi mesh router bases require dark-colored, dimensionally stable enclosures that accept laser etching and conductive EMI coatings after molding; the substrate must not outgas or cause coating delamination during thermal cycling. JH1000C is processed for these parts at 1.5–2.0 mm wall thickness, melt temperature 250–270 °C, and mold temperature 75–90 °C; pre-drying at 85 °C for 4 h to below 0.02 wt% moisture is mandatory because moisture-induced splay degrades coating adhesion. Compliance requirements for this segment are IEC 62368-1:2023, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II, REACH SVHC reporting, and EN 62474:2019 for material declarations in electrical products; UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm is commonly accepted for indoor non-ducted enclosure applications, while V-0 at 1.5 mm is not a standard property of this general-purpose grade and should be confirmed with the manufacturer. Formulation addition ratio for laser-marked housing exteriors is 98 wt% virgin JH1000C and 2 wt% laser-marking additive masterbatch; internal frames use 95 wt% virgin material and 5 wt% clean in-house regrind, but no regrind is placed on exterior surfaces because laser mark contrast shifts with regrind content. The production process includes injection molding with valve-gated hot runners, followed by chemical etching or low-pressure plasma treatment before conductive spray coating; adhesion is checked by cross-cut testing per ISO 2409:2020 and thermal shock from −30 °C to +70 °C. Terminal product types include indoor CPE enclosures, Wi-Fi mesh router bases, network switch housings, and fiber ONT front bezels.

Dongguan Haohan Plastic PC/ABS JH1000C is supplied as a general-purpose polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene alloy intended for injection moulding and, in selected cases, extrusion of structural enclosures, automotive interior trim carriers, appliance housings, and electronic equipment frames. The grade identity JH1000C is a manufacturer-specific model designation; it does not by itself define flame retardancy, UV stabilisation, or colour batch. Lot-specific values should be read from the certificate of analysis. Published data for this specific configuration in open technical literature is limited, so product qualification requires the batch certificate and, where necessary, specimen extraction from a moulded plaque.
The term PC/ABS JH1000C identifies the base resin matrix and the supplier’s code. Unless the batch certificate states otherwise, the product is managed as a moisture-sensitive, unfilled injection-moulding grade. It is not transparent. The material should not be assumed to be food-contact, medical-grade, or flame-retardant without explicit supplier documentation.

The values in this table are drawn from published PC/ABS alloy data and are useful for preliminary mould design only. They do not replace the manufacturer’s certificate for JH1000C, especially where the batch colour, recycled content, or additive package differs. For electrical or chemical exposure requirements, additional standards such as IEC 62631-3-2, ASTM D543, or UL 94 must be applied to the moulded part.
Pre-drying is the primary processing boundary because PC/ABS undergoes hydrolytic chain scission at melt temperature when residual moisture exceeds approximately 0.02 wt%. Desiccant dryers with a dew point of −40 °C or lower are used. Pellets are dried at 80 °C for 3 h to 4 h or at 100 °C for 2 h to 3 h, with the higher temperature used only when the hopper is clean and the batch has not been overdried. At ambient RH above 60%, drying time is extended to 4 h at 80 °C and the hopper is blanketed with dry air. Moisture is verified by ISO 15512 or Karl Fischer titration before the first shot. Overdrying beyond 6 h at 100 °C can cause yellowing and a slight loss of notched impact, so temperature controllers with override alarms are used in production.
Barrel temperature profiles are set from 240 °C in the rear zone to 260–275 °C at the nozzle, with measured melt temperature not exceeding 280 °C for normal residence. At melt temperatures above 300 °C, the butadiene rubber phase degrades, producing brown streaks, acrid odour, and a measurable drop in notched Izod. General-purpose screws with an L/D ratio of 20:1 to 24:1 and a compression ratio of 2.0:1 to 2.5:1 provide sufficient homogenisation without excessive shear heating. Screw surface speed below 0.30 m/s is normally used for 25–35 mm diameter screws, but actual settings are set by barrel size and melt temperature measurement. Shot size is kept between 40% and 70% of barrel capacity to limit residence time and avoid dead spots.
Fill speed is set medium to high to prevent hesitation marks in thin-wall sections, but excessive gate velocity can generate jetting and surface splay. In a 1200 kN clamp force injection moulding machine with a 25 mm screw, a fill time of 0.5 s to 1.5 s for a 2.0 mm wall section is often evaluated; pressure-limited filling with switch-over at 95% fill by screw position is preferred to avoid overpacking. Holding pressure is then adjusted to remove sink marks without raising moulded-in stress. Hot-runner manifolds are held between 240 °C and 260 °C, with nozzle tips heated to 250 °C. Dead spots in manifold channels or a poorly insulated nozzle tip produce local carbonised polymer that appears later as brown streaks or black specks.
Mould temperature directly controls weld-line strength and chemical resistance. A tool surface temperature of 70 °C to 100 °C is typical for structural PC/ABS parts. If the mould runs below 60 °C, the PC phase freezes rapidly, weld lines around holes and bosses lose strength, and the part shows higher internal stress that accelerates environmental stress cracking. For parts below 1.5 mm wall thickness, the upper end of the mould temperature range is used, but cooling time increases accordingly. On production scale, mould temperature variation across a multi-cavity tool should be held within ±5 °C; larger variation creates cavity-to-cavity differences in shrinkage, impact, and surface gloss.
Single-bed desiccant dryers without dew-point monitoring can deliver air above −30 °C, leading to partial hydrolysis. On actual production lines, batch-to-batch variation in pellet size and fines increases effective surface area; fines should be removed by cyclone or screen pack before the hopper to avoid uneven drying and black specks. If regrind is introduced, its moisture content is usually higher than virgin pellets, so drying time is adjusted by the maximum moisture of the blend rather than the virgin fraction alone.
The differentiation of JH1000C from adjacent materials follows the PC-to-ABS ratio and the presence of flame-retardant or filler packages. Against a medium-impact ABS grade, the polycarbonate content raises heat deflection temperature under 1.80 MPa into the 90–110 °C range and improves notched Izod at sub-zero temperatures, but the melt becomes more moisture-sensitive and the material cost increases. Against polycarbonate homopolymer, the ABS phase reduces melt viscosity, improves flow into thin-wall sections, lowers processing temperatures, and permits lower clamp force, but transparency, heat resistance above 125 °C, and long-term UV stability are reduced.
Compared with flame-retardant PC/ABS formulations containing organophosphate or brominated additives, an unfilled grade is less likely to exhibit plate-out, mould deposit formation, and weld-line strength loss from low-molecular-weight flame-retardant species. However, the base polymer does not carry a UL 94 V-0 classification unless the JH1000C lot certificate specifically records that rating at the relevant wall thickness. Compared with mineral-filled PC/ABS, the unfilled or lightly modified grade has lower flexural modulus, lower density, and higher notched impact, but lower surface hardness and greater shrinkage anisotropy between flow and cross-flow directions.
Flow-path length, wall thickness, and gate design modify these differences. In a thin-wall enclosure with a flow length-to-thickness ratio above 150:1, PC/ABS grades with higher ABS content flow more easily but lose heat resistance; a grade such as JH1000C must be selected by balancing fill pressure against required heat deflection temperature. Mould analysis using Izod and tensile data from the batch certificate is standard practice before tool steel is cut.
PC/ABS parts with moulded-in snaps, press-fit inserts, or solvent-welded joints require strain management because the PC phase is susceptible to stress cracking in the presence of polar solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, and some amine-based hardeners. The design strain at the root of a snap or metal insert should be kept below the critical strain threshold; published data for this specific configuration is limited, so a semi-empirical bent-strip method according to ISO 22088-3 is recommended. When a cleaner, adhesive, or plasticiser sits in a blind hole or snap recess, the actual strain should be measured with strain gauges or digital image correlation rather than estimated from room-temperature creep data.
Compatibility testing follows ASTM D543 or ISO 22088-3. Aromatic solvents, methyl ethyl ketone, dibutyl phthalate, and some brake fluids initiate environmental stress cracking. Continuous contact with strong alkalis should be avoided because polycarbonate hydrolysis accelerates at high pH. Alcohol-based cleaners at moderate concentration and short exposure are often less aggressive, but the part geometry and moulded-in stress determine whether visible cracking occurs. If the enclosure is painted or bonded, the solvent system in the coating or adhesive must be screened before production.
For exterior or strongly lit enclosures, PC/ABS yellows and loses ductility unless a UV-stabilised or painted form is specified. QUV exposure according to ASTM G154 or xenon-arc testing according to ISO 4892-2 is used to establish colour shift and impact retention. Black or dark coloured lots may mask initial yellowing, but polymer degradation still affects impact. Outdoor applications requiring continuous structural performance may need polycarbonate or a weatherable coextruded layer rather than standard PC/ABS.
Electronic equipment housings often require impact resistance and dimensional stability under internal heat from power supplies. PC/ABS is used when the continuous service temperature is below the heat deflection temperature under load and when no live-contact flame class is required. Automotive interior trim carriers use PC/ABS for low-temperature airbag door retention and screw boss strength, but vehicle odour and fogging specifications require separate testing according to VDA 270 or ISO 12219-4; the base resin alone does not guarantee odour compliance.
For medical equipment enclosures, repeated wiping with quaternary ammonium disinfectants or isopropyl alcohol may induce stress cracking at moulded-in bosses. If JH1000C is used in that environment, disinfection compatibility should be tested on the actual moulded part, not on unstressed plaques, because residual flow stress at edges and gates controls failure. Annealing at 90 °C for 1 h per 2 mm wall thickness may reduce internal stress, but excessive annealing can distort close-tolerance features.
JH1000C should not be combined with certain amine-based mould release agents or some phosphite stabilisers without compatibility testing, because the PC phase can undergo transesterification or hydrolysis under high-temperature processing. External mould release sprays containing silicone or hydrocarbon carriers can affect paint adhesion and should not be relied on without trial.
Incoming material control for JH1000C on a production line includes verification of melt volume-flow rate at 260 °C/5.0 kg under ISO 1133-1:2022, tensile yield stress under ISO 527-2, notched Izod under ISO 180/A, heat deflection temperature under ISO 75-2, and moisture by ISO 15512. The batch certificate should state the base resin designation and whether recycled content is present. Pellets are stored in sealed, aluminium-lined bags at 10–30 °C. If a bag is opened for more than 2 h at RH above 60%, the material is re-dried before use. Regrind from sprues and runners is added only after validation; unpainted parts commonly use 20 wt% to 25 wt% regrind, but higher levels reduce impact and increase colour variability. For RoHS or REACH declarations, lot-specific documentation is required; the base resin alone does not establish compliance for the final moulded part.
