Acceptance of Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey for instrument cluster shrouds and steering column lower covers is controlled by ISO 6452:2021 fogging: a test specimen is heated at 100 °C for 3 h over a glass plate maintained at 21 °C, and the condensed haze index is graded against OEM-specific limits, with values outside 60–80 % reflectance frequently rejected for visible surfaces. In production, failure after five thermal shock cycles from −30 °C to 85 °C has been traced to light stabilizer masterbatch overload rather than base resin volatility; the addition ratio is therefore kept at 100 wt% of 326A Grey for non-UV-exposed interior parts, while a hindered amine light stabilizer masterbatch is metered at 2–3 wt% only for covers adjacent to side glazing, and a phenolic antioxidant is added at 0.3–0.5 wt% when regrind content exceeds 20 wt%. The downstream injection moulding operation uses a sequential valve-gated hot runner to move the weld line away from visible class-A surfaces, with melt temperature 240–255 °C, mould temperature 50–70 °C, fill speed 80–100 mm/s, and stepped packing pressure from 70 MPa to 30 MPa over 8–12 s; this sequence suppresses sink marks around boss pins and clip towers. Flammability is tested under ISO 3795:1989 with a burn rate below 100 mm/min, while volatile organic compound emissions are screened by VDA 277:1995. Terminal parts emerging from this line are instrument cluster mask assemblies, steering column upper and lower shrouds, HVAC outlet carriers, seat side shields, and door trim insert carriers. An operational boundary applies: prolonged contact with aromatic hydrocarbon-based cleaners lowers critical strain for environmental stress cracking to approximately 0.2 %, so aliphatic cleaner chemistries are specified for components in service.
Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey is used for appliance control enclosures only after the design confirms that the maximum continuous use temperature does not exceed 70 °C and that the part does not face direct contact with heating elements; the governing compliance basis is IEC 60335-1:2020 Clause 30.2 for resistance to heat and fire, with additional screening according to UL 94 HB and restricted-substance verification under RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II. The standard formulation addition ratio is 100 wt% of 326A Grey for control fascia and end caps; if antistatic function is required in dust-prone environments, an internal antistatic masterbatch is compounded at 1–3 wt%, and colour appearance is re-verified because the grey tone shifts by 0.5–1.0 ΔE under ISO 11664-4:2008. Injection moulding for these parts runs at melt temperature 220–245 °C, mould temperature 35–60 °C, injection pressure 100–140 MPa, back pressure 0.5–1.0 MPa, and screw recovery speed 50–80 rpm to limit shear heating and yellowing in light grey surfaces. Environmental stress cracking resistance is screened under ISO 22088-2:2006 using constant tensile strain in a 1 % detergent solution; retention of tensile elongation above 75 % after 24 h is the acceptance threshold, whereas olive oil contact reduces critical strain to 0.4 % and must be prevented by gasket design. Terminal product types produced in this segment include washing machine control panel frames, dryer end caps, robotic vacuum LDS turret bases, air purifier front shells, and portable dehumidifier control housings. In thermogelation-prone zones, melt residence time is kept below 5 min and purge intervals are enforced every 200 shots on the production floor.
Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey enters the ICT enclosure injection moulding line only after a desiccant drying cycle that reduces residual moisture to <0.05 % at 80 °C for 3–4 h; higher moisture produces surface splay on textured router and network-equipment covers. The resin is used at 100 wt% as supplied, with regrind from sprues and runners capped at 15 wt% because each additional 5 wt% regrind lowers notched Izod impact by approximately 3–5 kJ/m² under ASTM D256-10 at 23 °C. The downstream process consists of high-pressure injection moulding through a reciprocating screw with L/D 20:1 and compression ratio 2.0:1–2.5:1, delivering a melt temperature of 230–250 °C into a mould held at 45–70 °C; injection pressure is maintained at 90–120 MPa with holding pressure at 60–70 MPa and cooling time of 18–25 s for 2.0 mm walls. Compliance for these parts is anchored to IEC 62368-1:2023 Clause 4.4.6 fire enclosure provisions, the restriction list in RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II as amended by (EU) 2015/863, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII for restricted substances in plastic housings. Terminal product types produced from this grade include GPON optical network terminal shells, rack-mount patch panel frames, KVM switch bodies, wireless access point covers, and SFP cage bezels. Batch-to-batch variation in melt flow rate under ISO 1133-1:2022 at 220 °C/10 kg falls between 15–25 g/10 min; lots at the lower end require a 5–10 °C upward adjustment in melt temperature to avoid short shots in thin ribs.
For low-voltage distribution board covers and DIN-rail enclosures installed indoors, Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey is processed at 100 wt% direct from pre-dried pellets; any addition of a flame retardant masterbatch to the grey base is treated as a separate development because published data for this specific configuration is limited, and glow wire requirements shift nonlinearly with masterbatch let-down. The downstream process is heavy-section injection moulding, with wall thicknesses of 3–6 mm, melt temperature 230–250 °C, mould temperature 50–70 °C, holding pressure 60–80 MPa maintained for 3–4 s/mm of nominal wall thickness, and vent depths of 1.5–2.0 mm to prevent burn marks at flow-front convergence. The compliance envelope for these components consists of IEC 61439-1:2020 for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies, IEC 60695-2-11:2021 glow wire testing at 650 °C, UL 94 HB for flammability class, and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II; if the end product falls under unattended appliance clauses requiring 750 °C glow wire, 326A Grey is not specified and a flame-retardant ABS or PC/ABS grade is substituted. Terminal parts manufactured from this material include distribution board covers, terminal block housings, relay socket bodies, DIN-rail module shells, and wiring compartment lids. Colour consistency limits are tight on large flat covers: melt temperature drift above 8 °C across the screw length produces visible flow lines, and mould temperatures below 45 °C increase gloss differential by approximately 12 % on textured surfaces.
| Application sector | Melt temperature (°C) | Mould temperature (°C) | Injection pressure (MPa) | Key boundary |

| Automotive interior trim | 240–255 | 50–70 | 70–100 | Avoid aromatic hydrocarbon cleaners |
| Appliance control housings | 220–245 | 35–60 | 100–140 | Melt residence time 5 min |
| Low-voltage enclosures | 230–250 | 50–70 | 60–80 | Not for 750 °C glow wire |
| POS/payment chassis | 245–260 | 60–80 | 100–130 | Security boundary limited |

Payment terminal and point-of-sale chassis parts made from Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey are specified where static load from repeated card insertion must not produce surface crazing within a 3–5 year service life. The formulation addition ratio shifts with thermal requirement: for standard POS bases and cash drawer bezels the resin is used at 100 wt%; for top covers exposed to internal board temperatures above 80 °C, the material is metered as the ABS component of a PC/ABS blend at 60–70 wt% with bisphenol-A polycarbonate, raising heat deflection temperature from 82 °C to 105 °C under ISO 75-2:2013 Method Bf at 0.45 MPa. Injection moulding proceeds in thin-wall sections of 1.8–2.2 mm, using melt temperature 245–260 °C, mould temperature 60–80 °C, sequential valve-gated hot runner, and clamp force from 150–250 t; the screw is retracted with a back pressure of 0.8–1.2 MPa to homogenize the PC/ABS melt. Compliance is evaluated under IEC 62368-1:2023 Clause 4.4.6 for fire enclosure, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII; if the chassis forms part of a PCI PTS POI security boundary, 326A Grey is limited to non-intrusion outer covers because it does not provide tamper-evident barrier performance beyond 1.5 mm wall. Finished product types in this segment include POS terminal bases, cash drawer face frames, barcode scanner bodies, payment terminal rear housings, and ticket machine card bezels. Stress-cracking susceptibility is screened with repeated insert-load cycling: a 2.0 mm boss rib is loaded to 15 N at 1 Hz for 50,000 cycles, and crack initiation before 20,000 cycles is treated as a tool design failure rather than a resin failure.
If the housing must retain dimensional stability under continuous 40–60 °C operating air and 5–85 % relative humidity, panel-mounted HMI and sensor enclosure applications employ Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey at 100 wt% as the base resin; laser-marking contrast requirements force a maximum carbon black masterbatch addition of 2 wt%, and any higher loading requires re-validation of marking permanence under ISO 11469:2016 and end-user legibility after 1,000 h of UV ageing. The injection moulding parameter set for these parts is melt temperature 235–250 °C, mould temperature 45–65 °C, screw L/D 22:1, back pressure 0.8–1.5 MPa, injection speed 60–90 mm/s, and packing pressure 55–75 MPa; tool surfaces are textured to VDI 24–30 with draft angles of 0.5–1.0° to release from cores. Compliance is established under IEC 61010-1:2020 Clause 6.7 for flammability of measurement, control, and laboratory equipment, UL 94 HB, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II, and REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XVII; if the enclosure is exposed to outdoor sunlight, the grey base is not specified for direct UV service without a UV capstock or acrylic cap layer. Terminal product types produced in this segment are HMI display bezels, PLC front covers, sensor brackets, cable entry boxes, rotary encoder housings, and industrial touchscreen rear shells. Field data from manufacturing lines indicate that low screw back pressure below 0.8 MPa increases unmelt pellet frequency in the shot, while melt temperature above 255 °C shifts grey colour by more than 1.5 ΔE on the CIE L*a*b* scale and triggers rejection for visible panels.

Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey is identified in industrial supply channels as a grey-pigmented acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene moulding resin. The public accessibility of the grade-specific datasheet is limited; published data for this specific configuration is limited, and exact melt mass-flow rate, notched impact energy, colour coordinates, and flammability class must be confirmed against the producer’s certificate of analysis. The engineering values referenced below are therefore drawn from general-purpose ABS class baselines and from established grey-pigment shift behaviour, not from an unverifiable claim of grade-specific performance.
Grades in this class are normally supplied as cylindrical pellets; moisture protection is required.
The polymer backbone of ABS is a two-phase system in which polybutadiene rubber grafts onto a styrene-acrylonitrile matrix. The grey compound differs from natural resin by the addition of black and white pigments that modify spectral reflectance and melt homogeneity. Pigment dispersion quality is controlled by masterbatch dilution ratio, and poorly dispersed agglomerates can lead to surface specks and localised loss of impact energy. For the model designation 326A, the exact rubber content, acrylonitrile ratio, and lubricant package are not public; any use should begin with a pilot-run comparison against an approved ABS benchmark grade.
Drying is the first processing constraint. General-purpose ABS absorbs atmospheric moisture, and melt-phase hydrolysis of acrylonitrile-styrene chains can produce splay marks and surface roughness. Typical supplier guidelines for ABS specify residual moisture below 0.05 wt% before melt processing, measured by ISO 15512:2019. Desiccant-dryer conditions of 80 °C for 2 h to 4 h are common; when ambient relative humidity exceeds 60%, the drying period should be extended to not less than 4 h. A desiccant bed dew point below −30 °C is required to prevent moisture regain in the hopper.
The barrel profile of a single-flight general-purpose screw on a 100 t to 350 t injection moulding machine is typically set with a rear zone of 190–210 °C, a centre zone of 210–230 °C, and a nozzle zone of 220–240 °C. Melt temperature measured by an air-shot pyrometer should remain between 220 °C and 250 °C. Mould temperature of 40–80 °C is typical; higher mould temperature improves gloss and knit-line strength but increases cycle time. Screw rotation with a surface speed of 0.3–0.6 m/s and back pressure of 0.3–0.7 MPa is recommended to avoid trapping volatiles without over-shearing the polybutadiene phase. Screw designs with 18:1 to 22:1 L/D and compression ratio 2:1 to 2.5:1 are commonly used. The shot size should occupy 30% to 80% of barrel capacity to keep residence time below 5 min and avoid thermal degradation. Clamp force is typically estimated from projected area at 0.35 t/cm² to 0.8 t/cm², depending on part thickness and gate geometry.
Injection speed is selected in relation to flow-length-to-wall-thickness ratio. For ABS, a moderate-to-fast injection speed of 100–250 mm/s at the screw is typical for thin-wall parts of 2.0–3.5 mm nominal wall. Holding pressure is often set at 50–70% of peak hydraulic pressure or 30–60 MPa cavity pressure for a duration sufficient to freeze the gate; premature release produces sink marks and post-mould dimpling. Cushion should not fall below 3 mm because the transition from melt compression to screw seating changes back-pressure stability and short-weight consistency.
Gate placement in grey ABS parts can influence flow marks. Edge gates set to create a unidirectional flow front reduce visual disruption associated with masterbatch streaks around bosses and ribs. Gate diameter should be 60–80% of the nominal wall thickness, and land length should be 0.5–1.0 mm. Sequential valve gating is used on larger housings to control weld-line position and gas entrapment; during process setup, the first-stage injection speed is often adjusted until the flow front remains continuous at 80% of cavity length, after which the second-stage pressure compacts the part.
Splay due to moisture, grey streaks from degraded dead spots, and burn marks from blocked vents are observed on production lines. Mould vents should be maintained at a depth of 0.02–0.03 mm for ABS; blocked vents raise cavity-gas pressure and produce diesel-effect black spots. Valve-pin gates, hot-runner manifold temperature, and thermocouple placement influence the heat history of the grey pigment. A sudden increase in screw torque and lower plasticating rate can indicate that the grey masterbatch carrier resin is incompatible or of different melt viscosity. Acrylic-based colour carriers can disperse well but can increase melt viscosity if used at high let-down ratios. Testing should include a five-shot short-shot progression after colour change, because the grey pigment can obscure weld-line orientation and gas traps that are visible in translucent natural ABS. The recommended screw decompression is 2–5 mm after screw recovery to prevent drool without pulling air into the melt stream; excess decompression is a common cause of splay in grey parts.
The melt-flow position of a general-purpose ABS is commonly reported at 220 °C under 10 kg in ISO 1133-1:2022. Values in the class fall between 15 g/10 min and 30 g/10 min; a higher value supports thin-wall filling but usually corresponds to lower rubber content and lower notched impact. The viscosity function is shear-thinning; therefore mould-filling simulations require capillary rheometry according to ISO 11443:2021 rather than a single MFR point. General-purpose ABS often shows a power-law index of 0.30–0.40 between 100 s⁻¹ and 1,000 s⁻¹; this means that doubling the apparent shear rate lowers viscosity by roughly 20–30%. For ABS 326A Grey, the exact MFR must be obtained from the supplier because the model suffix may indicate an intermediate-flow modification.
For general-purpose injection-moulding ABS, typical property envelopes are listed in the table. The grey-pigmented column reflects general shifts reported for carbon black and titanium dioxide masterbatch additions, not a grade-specific measurement of ABS 326A Grey. All values are class baselines and are not a substitute for lot-level testing on the actual material.

The rubber phase in ABS contributes impact resistance but lowers tensile modulus and chemical resistance. Grey masterbatches based on carbon black increase opacity and provide UV screening, but carbon black particles with poor dispersion can act as stress concentrators and reduce notched Izod. Spectrophotometric acceptance under ASTM D2244-23 or ISO 11664-4:2008 should include tolerance limits of ΔL*, Δa*, Δb* not exceeding 0.3–0.5 units on production lots to prevent visible part-to-part variation. Surface gloss measured by ASTM D523-20 may be 5–15 GU lower in dark-grey compounds than in unpigmented ABS when the identical mould texture is used, depending on the TiO₂-to-carbon black ratio.
The notched Izod test at 23 °C is sensitive to notch radius and specimen preparation. A milled notch of 0.25 mm radius according to ISO 180:2023 gives lower values than a moulded notch if the skin layer is disturbed. Production validation should include both notched Izod and instrumented multiaxial impact at 2.0 m/s because ABS exhibits rate-dependent deformation; notched Izod alone may not capture ductile-to-brittle transitions introduced by regrind or pigment dispersion defects. Tensile modulus under ISO 527-1:2019 and ISO 527-2:2012 is typically 2000–2600 MPa for general-purpose ABS; flexural modulus under ISO 178:2019 is commonly 2100–2700 MPa. The grey pigmentation effect on these stiffness values is small, often within the ±5% test variability of the laboratory.
Heat deflection temperature is a comparative value, not a continuous-use limit. For ABS, the upper continuous application temperature is generally 60–80 °C under low stress, below the Vicat softening value. The Vicat B50 method applies a 50 N load and a heating rate of 50 °C/h; the A120 method uses 1.20 °C/min and may report higher values. Grey pigments generally do not alter the heat distortion temperature by more than 1–2 °C unless filler-like pigment additions exceed 5 wt%, which is atypical for injection moulding colour masterbatches.
Candidate application areas for grey ABS of this class include appliance structural housings, electrical switch covers, business-machine components, and interior automotive trim. These applications rely on the balance between dimensional stability, low post-mould shrinkage, and pigment opacity. Typical mould shrinkage for general-purpose ABS is 0.4–0.7% in the flow direction and 0.4–0.7% transverse, measured by ISO 294-4:2018. The grey pigment may reduce or widen shrinkage anisotropy because carbon black particles alter the thermal conductivity of the melt and the rate of skin formation in the cavity.
The substitution of grey-pigmented general-purpose ABS with flame-retardant ABS requires a different thermal stabiliser and additive package. Brominated flame retardants combined with antimony trioxide are common in FR ABS, and the resulting compound shows lower melt flow, a narrower processing window, and an increase in melt temperature during plastication. The flammability class of UL 94 V-0 is typically achieved at 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm thickness, but the glow-wire ignition temperature and comparative tracking index may be lower than those of unfilled ABS. High-heat ABS grades produced with α-methylstyrene show higher Vicat values but increased melt viscosity and higher mould temperatures of 80–100 °C; they also exhibit greater sensitivity to thermal residence time and a higher tendency toward yellowing in light-grey formulations.
PC/ABS blends change the mechanical response from a single-phase styrene-acrylonitrile/rubber morphology to a two-phase polycarbonate-ABS alloy. The heat deflection temperature under 1.8 MPa (ISO 75-2:2020) rises, and notched impact at low temperature improves; however, PC/ABS is more sensitive to hydrolysis if pellets are not dried below 0.02 wt% moisture. The use of a grey-pigmented ABS 326A would not directly match PC/ABS performance in thin-wall electronic housings requiring Vicat B50 above 120 °C, nor would it carry the same chemical resistance to dilute alkaline cleaning agents. Selection between the two materials is governed by the specified service temperature, impact at −30 °C, and tolerance for sink-mark formation.
Relative to a natural unpigmented ABS at the same rubber content, the grey product is expected to provide greater opacity and lower visible transmission, but the melt flow may shift by the effect of the masterbatch. High-flow ABS grades with a melt-flow rate above 40 g/10 min are often used for large thin-wall parts, but they sacrifice impact and weld-line strength. High-impact ABS grades with notched Izod above 30 kJ/m² are suited for safety equipment, but they show lower flexural modulus and mar resistance. A grey medium-impact grade such as 326A, if confirmed, would occupy a balanced position between these extremes rather than serve as an extreme-flow or extreme-impact solution.
ABS parts exposed to automotive interior cleaners or hand creams can stress crack at moulded-in stresses. General-purpose ABS is sensitive to concentrated alcohols, ketones, esters, and some aromatic hydrocarbons. Annealing at 80 °C for 1 h per 2 mm wall thickness can reduce internal stress, but grades with a high gloss surface can lose gloss if annealed without a fixture. The grey pigment may hide stress whitening, so detection of over-stressed snap-fit arms should be performed with polarised light or solvent-stress crack screening under a controlled loading jig.
For regulated applications, lot-level evidence is required for REACH candidate list substances, RoHS restricted elements, and food-contact migration when applicable. The table below lists the common compliance clauses that a supplier should address for a grey-pigmented ABS. The absence of a publicly accessible certificate for Dongguan Anshuyi ABS 326A Grey means that the compliance status cannot be asserted from secondary sources.
| Regulatory framework | Relevant clause or method | Typical limit or verification |
|---|---|---|
| EU RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU Annex II | Restricted substances | Pb 0.1 wt%; Hg 0.1 wt%; Cd 0.01 wt%; Cr(VI) 0.1 wt%; PBB/PBDE 0.1 wt% |
| REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 | SVHC candidate list | Supplier declaration required for SVHC content above 0.1 wt% |
| FDA 21 CFR 180.22 | Acrylonitrile copolymers | Confirm food-contact suitability and migration limits if intended |
| UL 94 | Flammability of plastic materials | Test at final wall thickness; class HB or V-0 as specified by application |
| Colour consistency | ASTM D2244-23 / ISO 11664-4:2008 | ΔE not exceeding 0.3–0.5 units across production lots |
Regrind absorbs moisture more rapidly than virgin pellets because of increased surface area. Desiccant hoppers with closed-loop dew-point control should maintain the return-air dew point below −30 °C. For grey ABS, regrind addition may increase the frequency of grey-shade variation if the regrind includes degraded hot-runner purge material. The use of a static mixer and an on-line melt pressure transducer permits trend detection of viscosity changes from mixed virgin/regrind lots.
When regrind derived from grey ABS is re-introduced on production lines, the proportion is typically limited to 15–25 wt% in unpainted applications to avoid gloss loss and notch-sensitivity drift. The exact limit for this specific grade remains dependent on the supplier’s certificate of analysis and the elapsed thermal history of the reclaimed pellets.
